Might be a good idea to write to Redten Communications at their registered address (see earlier post) listing our complaints about poor customer service, lost MAC codes, lack of notification about change of service etc. and posting copies of letters on this site. As I have said earlier, I think we need to apply collective pressure to get them to listen to us and take our dissatisfaction seriously. Will also build the evidence to take to Clode to show them that we are experiencing material loss of service.
I will start by writing to ask them to confirm the terms and conditions of my contract because I have not yet received any written notification of any change.
  • From ofcom website - sound familiar?
Problems with your internet service -
    Customer service issues

It is in a company’s own interests to treat its customers fairly and well. In most cases it will try to resolve your concerns satisfactorily.
If you feel the company has not treated your concerns properly, please make sure you have done everything possible to contact them directly. If you have not made progress with your complaint by phone, have you tried sending a fax, email or letter to the company?
If the company refuses to resolve your concerns - or says there is nothing it can do - then please make a formal complaint to the company. You should find details of how to do this on the back of your bill. If you can’t find these details, the company’s customer service staff should tell you how to make a formal complaint.

Anyone know how to go about a group action thingy with Clode, like someone else said if there is a group action of about x number of customers then Clode as less likely to want to go to court.

I have jumped to sky & getting up to 16Mb unlimited for £10 per month

Sod it. I give up. If I use my mac and transfer to Tiscali am I liable for any cancellation fees? Anyone know how much I'm liable to Clode/V12 for? - I signed up in November 2006. Can I just keep paying my 26.99 a month for my computer if I cancel the broadband service (despite their claims its what we're all paying for after all *not* the broadband)

If you transfer to another ISP, you will still be bound by your agreement with Clode/V12. If you stop paying them, they can invoke financial penalties. The PC and all ancilliaries remain the property of Redten until the end of the 3 year contract period. You are contractually obliged to return it to them in it's original packaging if the contract is terminated early for any reason, or they can charge you for the full replacement costs. The payments are for a broadband service and "loan" of the PC.
Whoever drew up these contracts knew what they were doing. The only way out without incurring a financial penalty is for Redten to seriously breach the terms of the contract or to go bust. As I still haven't seen any solid evidence that they are going down the pan, I think our best option is to browbeat them into providing the standard of service we were originally promised.

£10 per month sounds good, is that with a sky box bundle or just broadband?

will have to wait and see about this contract before jumpin the gun!

I would browbeat them if I could get through on the !!!!!!!g phone!!!

The only other option I can see is to go for the early settlement option included in the credit agreement which is IIRC way more than the cost of the PC. Returning is not an option - original packaging long since been recycled and PC upgraded with new soundcard, video card and memory!

Alexajx £10 plus my normal sky TV payment per months which is £16
  • The Sky deals sound great but no good to me - when I check on their website it tells me I can't have their super cheap braodband and would have to pay £17 a month just for the broadband!

Where exactly does it say that PC is theirs, because all my paperwork including the Invoice I received from them state the PC is free?

incredibledisc, I think it depends on where you live as in my area Sky has LLU in my local exchange, I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not.
