When you sign up and pay the £49.99 who is it that takes the money is it Redten or Clode?
when i spoke to clode said they would pay me back the £49.99 now in an email they are saying it is redten that owes me money does any one have any advise on what i should.
Also the Pc should i send it back even though clode have said that Redten will not be allowed to claim the full cost of the money from me as they would not allow it i am seriously confused now.

i have just logged into my njp account and where it had a link to fair usage and the green logo, has been changed to a link to buy bolt ons.. 10gb per month for £18! i wonder who exactly we would have to pay for these bolt ons. njp did say in their letter that we would have the same service so this should be unlimited downloads as well. after being back online only one day we have used 1.4gb and not even looked at much.

SO pleased I found this site (by accident when I tried to log onto NJP account)
I've experienced many of the problems described in the previous pages, and am moving in ever decreasing circles which lead... well you all know where! Brief summary:
    • signed up for the 2 laptop + wireless deal 14.12.07
    • nothing heard for 3 weeks, but hey, it was Christmas
    • rang Redten 11.1.08 "just waiting for delivery of laptops, but will send wireless router so you can use your PC"
    • 18.1.08 "laptops delivered to dispatch warehouse, will be going out today"
    • 25.1.08 "sorry, some problem with system, order not dispatched"
    • and on and on and on........... "still waiting for laptops", "laptops on order", "router not sent - don't know why" Lie after lie after lie. I even started to feel sorry for the poor sod on the sales line.
    • eventually on Feb 8th told "we can't fulfill your order, we're cancelling your contract. Will send MAC code."
    • 15 Feb "sorry no MAC code yet, but contract wasn't cancelled on our system. Have rectified it"
    • 16 Feb letter (the only communication ever with Redten that I didn't have to initiate) "thank you for choosing our service. You should receive your equipment on Jan 18th, and your broadband will be activated shortly after."
    • Tried to get another provider, but no can do without MAC
    • Rang BT Wholesale and BT Tag Removal Team - have to get MAC from Redten - Redten not answering phone.
    • Rang OFCOM - will try and get Redten to send MAC
    • MAC from Redten 7th March - tried signing up with Virgin, MAC rejected
    • March 10th HALLELUJIA message from BT "Redten not paid bills/gone bust (as if I hadn't guessed) and new MAC
    • 11 March - use new MAC - gets rejected as NJP got in there first!!!
Now, I'm usually a patient woman, but I am almost ready to admit defeat, especially after ringing BT wholesale again and discovering service is actually provided by MURFIX - who the **** are they? Nice man at Murfix listened patiently and said he will try his best to get NJP to send me a new MAC. The best of this is, we have been getting broadband all the time, except when migration to NJP happened, but have no contract (though they do owe me my £49.99 set-up fee still and I fear I'll never see that again, so I feel free broadband is the least they can do). Redten have acted illegally in giving my information to another company as I was not a customer of theirs after Feb 8th, when THEY cancelled the contract.

I don't know what advice anyone can give me to get out of this morasse - maybe it's not advice I need, maybe it's therapy! (I am writing this sitting with my knickers on my head, 2 pencils up my nose, murmuring "whibble")

    Woe, woe and thrice woe!!!

They have also removed the contact option as well.

Where exactly does it say that PC is theirs, because all my paperwork including the Invoice I received from them state the PC is free?

Consumer terms and conditions of sale, Clause 5.9
    http://www.redteninternet.com/pdf/Redten_terms_and_conditions.pdf

Every time I read this contract I realise it has more twists to it than a corkscrew. Clause 3.1 states the following:
This contract and the terms and conditions thereof apply for the sale of computer hardware by Redten Communucations Limited and for the provision of non-chargeable broadband
    services. (my highlighting)
Obviously, my earlier post was wrong and it is the PC and ancilliaries we are paying for via Clode/V12 with free broadband thrown in.

Right, well although I still have no broadband, I have finally found the root of the problem:

Last Tuesday I applied for O2 broadband, after being told by BT on their Hijack page that Redten were ceasing to trade and that we were being disconnected. Numerous calls to Redten were not answered, and no notification had been received via phone or mail that this would be happening. I therefore assumed that jumping ship was a good option.

After reading other people's similar issues on various boards (mostly this one) I phoned O2 and cancelled the order. However, yesterday one of their engineers went to the exchange and connected me to their circuit anyway, meaning NJP could not migrate me to their service.

I have spoken to O2, who will have to put a manual cease order on the line, which will take up to 14 days. After which NJP can hook me up and I should be good to go.

So all in all, a monumental saga that has stressed me out beyond belief, and it's all down to RedTen's complete lack of customer care or professionalism.

I have to say that the staff I have spoken to at NJP, BT and O2 have been excellent - polite, professional, and easy to get through to. So was the lovely girl at Ofcom when I filed my complaint against Redten :rotfl:

Redten, on the other hand, are useless. Once I'm finally up and running, I will see out the remainder of my contract, and then that's it - I'm off. Assuming they're even still afloat that far down the line, which I seriously doubt. but then if that gets me out sooner, all the better :T

Big thanks to everyone on here for posting all the useful info too (phone numbers, telephone conversations etc) - I'd still be a long way from where I am now without it.

Is this not mis-selling or mis-representing goods then (not sure if this is the correct term?) as others have pointed out Redten made a big deal about the PC being "FREE" (no asterisks advising you to check the small print) there is even a bit on the FAQ stating as much IIRC - most people would agree that they signed on the basis of free computer + £19.99 unlimited broadband payable over 3 years so its a bit rich of them to then turn around and say "well, actually, although all of our advertising and promotional material says your computer is free its acutally your broadband that's free and you owe us a heap of cash in the event we screw you over"

Received a response from Clode, must be run by the same numpties as Redten etc as they dont even know their clients name - anyone have dealings with a company called Red 10 ?
    20th March 2008

    Dear Customer

With reference to your recent enquiry, please accept our apologies for the delay in response.

We have liased with Red 10 since we were made aware of the disruption in service. I can confirm that this was due to Red 10 changing service provider to NJP Services from BT Wholesale. Unfortunately, BT chose to inform customers that service had been disconnected due to liquidation. I can assure you that this is not the case. Red 10 continue to trade and this has been a temporary interruption of normal service.

Red 10 have confirmed that all customers internet connection should now be restored, if this is not the case, please contact Red 10 on 0844 482 0000 or alternatively NJP Services on 0871 424 0135.

We appreciate that many customers would like to cancel their agreements, please be advised that Clode Retail Finance cannot process these requests. An agreement can only be cancelled on instruction from Red 10 the service provider.

I would like to thank you for your patience whilst this matter has been investigated.

    Yours Sincerely

Surely there must be some sort of False Advertising malarkey going on here then? Pretty sure the deal has always been "19.99 Broadband with a free PC"?

    Crooks, plain and simple.
