I would do some calculations first £400 for a dodgy PC, or if you are more than 16 months into the contract you can pay the rest up front and no need to cancel (as you'll have £400 left to pay) you get the PC, the contract is cleared (and you should still recieve internet until you move to another supplier)
I found I was connect to the web last night - but after all the stress of waiting, phoning and gettin gno where, I was so relieved that I just went to bed.0 -
This is the response to my ticket about my connection speed:
ADSLMax is a rate-adaptive service: this is to say that the speed of your connection is dependant upon the distance from the exchange to your home and the quality of the copper pair that is the telephone line itself.
Your line went into service very recently and over the first ten days your speeds and indeed even your connection may be eratic - this is because the exchange does not immediately know what speed is best to provide on your line, through our network.
As the first ten days passes, the speed your line can adequately supply to you is discovered by the exchange and your speed will settle to the correct rate at this time.
At this point, it is too early to chase BT for a potential fault on your line since the service has not yet stabilised.
Kind Regards,
Paul

btw NJP also told me that I should have ticked the box to close the ticket myself if I wasn't prepared to wait for them to do it but I cannot see how. Has anybody else figured this one out yet?0 -

Tell me about it, i didnt get a pc in the end just broadband at 12.99 a month. with the promise of a pc for 19.99 a month when they "find a new source"0 -
im up for group action too!
did a little research into redten watford saverstore and now "globally"
looks like watford (who set up redten) went bust in feb07 redten was not affected as they were a seperate trading company. then globally (company registered at same address as watford, redten etc) bought them out 2 days before they were liquidised, so they have bought themselves out.. where redten fits in im not sure

I, too, jumped ship early last week and am now happy with Be.
As far as I'm concerned, it was RedTen who are in breach of contract - the service ceased, and I received no official notification. I didn't get a letter (and I haven't moved house) and I didn't get an email. The announcement on their redten.net page that the migration is to 24Mb is obviously incorrect, too.
Looking at the posts earlier in this thread, it seems that RedTen may have sent an email to the redten.net addresses, but that's not one I ever used - I would expect all comms to go to the address I gave them, no one they decided to set up (and all previous customer service emails have come to my own email address, not the redten one). And besides, the redten webmail is down, so I couldn't access that email account even if I could remember the login details from a year and a half ago!
I'll be contacting RedTen and giving them seven days to refund the unused portion of my contract (I paid upfront). If they decline then they'll be receiving an invitation to meet me in the local small claims court.
How is Be ? good ? speed ? I`m on same situation as you, I paid up front since dez06.
I`m back online yesterday the speed still more or less the same.
On my test yesterday on FTP I get 885KB/s , before I get about 810KB/s
If keep like that and unlimited...them I stay till the end of my contract, if not I will jump to O2(£10 p/month if you have your mobile account or pay as go with them) or BE and get 16MB ulimited.0 -
I'm glad to hear that some people appear to be finally getting re-connected. I would settle for being able to get through to Redten to let then know that they haven't passed my details onto NJP at all. I spent 30 minutes listening to their Kenny G elavator muzak yesterday and no one answered.:mad:0

^^Yup, been trying to get through on the phone too with no luck either.
I'm now penning my cancellation letter to this band of [politeness_filter_on] muppets [politeness_filter_off]. Anyone know if RT *ahem* "support" are on holiday over Easter? If anyone can get through to them please ask and post their reply up here just so we know.0 -
they answered the phone very quiclky today around 10:55AM and now I can't get through.0
