Im back online too - connecting between 3-5 meg (no difference to before).
Im also having probs with emails - says i have 16 in the queue but will only download the first 2, gets to the third then times out. I have changed the server settings but still no joy. Another ticket going in today I think!0 -
@safetyguy - this is my second - if you select the option "close this ticket myself" then you cant actually close it yourself you have to wait 5 days!!!
Didnt know I couldnt do more than 2 however!! Hope I dont have any more problems :-S0 -
Safetguy and Mondayboy;
I have all time connection--never switch off and have done sporadic checks even during peak 6 to 11pm and not really varied speed. I am likely to be one of very few with redten in my neck of the woods. Clearly fellow surfers here have more sense.
Redten has been in operation just over a year and have lost partners BT and LG. Odds are they wont be here by end of current year as they appear to be in existance only as a brand and selling agent now--the virtual isp that NJP talks of.
Currently I am gathering the info needed to support moving from them in advance of the 3 years contract if service not as promised. Their contract is tight too but it is with them and there is a get out clause for us ( very few rights we have contractually. ) But see:
“ Whatever the reason, one thing’s for certain: Redten Internet represents outstanding value for money! It’s such good value, that without the full support of BT Wholesale, Intel, Microsoft and Toshiba, we simply couldn’t afford to offer it.
Think there has to be a catch?
Then call us or email us. Whatever your question we’ll be more than happy to answer it clearly and directly. We’re proud of our straight-talking, no-nonsense approach “
12.12 Should we increase the Charges or make any Contract
modification, which is likely to be of material detriment to
you we shall provide you with 14 days written notice and
the increase or modification will take effect from the end
of that period. If this occurs you may be entitled to
terminate your Contract by giving us written notice
detailing the proposed modification at any time on
providing us with 10 working days notice, such notice to
expire before the price increase or detrimental contractual
modification takes effect. If you terminate your Contract
in these circumstances the relevant provisions of this
clause 12 shall apply.
They have transferred their back bone provider from BT as contract allows; dont know if they were ever with tiscali or C & W but
As they did not give notice --if you suffer detrimently in provision -quality and quantity of downloads is detriment--you have the right to withdraw with 10 days notice --mac must be given in 5 days.
They should still be in existance as the service isp provider --dont know if they are--waiting on response from NJP services.
If they are no longer the isp provider then they are in complete breach of their contract.
Note what they say about full support from BT wholesale!!!
If I leave I will only pay the outstanding value bit of £500 divided X 36 --the cost of PC which I will retain.
Will let you know this pm if anything comes from NJP. on status.

Just been told by NJP of a cracking website if you struggle to get your email.
You can read ANY email address on it - really good - i was having probs so logged on here and deleted any large/offending emails!
www.mail2web.com
Simply pop your email address and password in and voila - webmail! - you can even send email from it!0 -
@safetyguy - As far as I know - 8mb is a maximum speed. Its all dependant on how far you are from your exchange.
I would be surprised if anyone guarenteed speeds?0 -

I guess the extra day could mean that it's now not available. I got mine a day after their web page said it wouldn't be available. They told me that it's got an expiry of 4/4 which goes against what their site said before.
) but then thought to give RT a chance and never used it. If it's still valid then that makes a big difference

updates from NJP ( note speed of response compared to redten )
Dear
NJPServices is fulfilling the role that BT Wholesale had previously supplied for RedTen - the network backbone provision to get you online in the first place.
I can confirm that your ADSL order should now be on our network instead of BT Wholesales however we are not the technical support avenue for you: you should contact RedTen on the contact details they have supplied to you previously for any assistance you may need with your account.
RedTens website has the following numbers and comments listed:
Redten Internet Sales: 0844 482 0000
Broadband support: 0905 099 0200*
Hardware support: 0905 099 0201*
Software support: 0905 099 0202*
Anti-virus support: 0870 013 0794
* Calls to 0905 numbers are charged at £0.50 per minute on your standard telephone bill.
I am sorry but we are not able to assist you with your configuration issues but can confirm the change-over for your account appears to have completed.
Kind Regards,
Paul

I refuse to use the high cost telephone lines operated by redten when they cut you off just so they can collect extra cash.
I will write and email them merclessly until they provide me with the support as advertised and in their contract --365 days.
Agree with safetyguy on the joint involvement of Clode but prime contract with redten.0 -
Hi all
as im with redten thought id better get on the band wagon and find out whats going on!
mine came back on @ around 11am yesterday.. already used 1.4gb.. im jus wondering whats going to happen when it goes over.. and can we get out of this contract with v12.. i requested my mac from bt on the 17th (last day) saved it but already had my letter from njp so gettin it didnt seem to affect me. 2gb basicly 1 day a month of the net!!0 -
The number I called was 0800 169 0934. Just to be 100% clear... BT told you the MAC code available via the original BT Wholesale page is valid until 4/4 and not 17/3? I took a copy of said code (probably what stopped RT transferring me
) but then thought to give RT a chance and never used it. If it's still valid then that makes a big difference
Not exactly, BT gave me a mac and said it was valid until 4/4. It might have been the same mac that was on the web-site butI don't know.
BT should be able to give you a MAC, give them another go. Personally I'm starting to put a bit of pressure on Clode, I phoned them yesterday and they basically weren't interested until I started giving them all the info about them being joint liable for the service and if they refuse to do anything then I'm going to stop paying them. Ask them questions like "You are joint liable for my service and I have paid you for the last 2 weeks worth, where is my broadband? Where is my refund as I didn't have broadband?" Don't let them ignore you as they have to take responsibility. I plan to phone them again this afternoon and find out what steps they've taken to get my broadband going again. I'll keep on phoning them until I get my broadband back as it should be!0 -
Welcome Alex, I think the info has been posted before about the liquidation. Basically Redten weren't part of the buy-out so went off on their own. Hence why they couldn't supply pcs for a while as they had to find another source.0
