I have just been looking at the letter i think most of us received from Redten/NJP services on Friday. Redten keep saying that they will still be providing us with the service, but the first line of the letter sent to us clearly states:
As you may be aware, NJP Services will very shortly be providing you with your internet access in place of Redten. (My highlighting)
Now is it just me, or does this imply that NJP ARE taking over our service - not how BT provided the lines only - but in full!?!?!
Opinions please as i think if they are taking over the service all this talk about capped/uncapped service is pretty cut and dry. NJP will provide a capped service as they do to all their other customers.
I think it is likely that they are taking over in PLACE of Redten as otherwise why do we have account log-on details for the NJP service? I don't know about anyone else, but i did not have account logon details for BT.
This whole thing still seems pretty messy to me. Guess we'll wait and see what happens tomorrow.0 -
IMO if Redten are being replaced with an inferior service then Redten/NJP are in breach and we should be free to move.
Im going to be keeping my eye on this carefully, and if they do breach I will get my MAC AFTER the changeover - at least Ill get internet access till its changed.0 -
That's what hit my eyes too Dionne,
The letter states NJP Services will be providing internet access IN PLACE of RedTen
I'm still going ahead with AOL - and hope the MAC code works for them0 -
The letter doesn't say very much and the whole process so far has been extremely shoddy,0

The way I'm seeing it (and this is my personal opinion)
1. Redten informs Clode they are in financial difficulties and are going bust
2. BT Pulls plug for non-payment
3. Clode steps in and keeps Redten afloat while requesting MAC's and transfering the customer base across to another ISP.
4. Once completed Redten will go bust, Clode will be happy as they still get their monthly payments as they've transfered you across to a new supplier
5. Your still stuck in your contract.
I think its Clode thats pulling the strings here.....
Seriously think this is what is happening guys.
Doesn't answer the question as to whether we're getting limited or unlimited but I think it answers why it's been handled in this way and why the wording is that NJP will be taking over as I belive Redten will cease to exist.0 -
this from NJP website
NJP Supplies Redten with Wholesale Broadband17 March 2008 NJP Services has successfully completed the deal with Pc and broadband supplier Redten Internet to take over the provision of broadband access to its customers. Well if they have been planning it for the last several months (which I doubt) and this is the result! I'm glad to be out of it.0

I knew about nothing, last week a got the BT wholesale message and didn't have a clue what was going on so I clicked on the request MAC and wrote it down just in-case. does anyone know if this will affect my transfer process?
I signed in to the site mentioned before using the new NJP credentials and found the following:-
The total cost of additional bandwidth usage is shown below. Your current plan includes 2GB of inclusive bandwidth per month (plus any additional Bolt-Ons you may have purchased). Usage above this limit is charged at a rate of £2.00 per GigaByte or part thereof.
You have currently used 0 GigaBytes this month. This is calculated by adding 0GB of download data to 0GB of upload data used this month.
If you know you are going to use additional bandwidth then you can also purchase your bandwidth in advance by using the Bolt-Ons option. From there, you can purchase chunks of bandwidth from as little as £1 per GigaByte0
