I totally agree with the above poster. I signed up for BT broadband on Monday night using my MAC code. Incidently, I phoned BT Wholesale today. A very nice Irish chap said that it shows on his system that my line will be swapped to this Murph whatever !!!!!! on the 18th, but did show an order received from BT broadband. I'll just wait and see which one I end up with. At the end of the day, we haven't done anything wrong have we?
Yes and no,
Technically you would've breached the contract first. You need to wait until they breach the contract by giving us a worse service and you really need to give them a reasonable time to change it back when you request it. But, you could argue that you were following BT's instructions so therefore they are liable for anything that happens as a result.0 -
I think the only thing we can do is wait until the 18th and see what happens.
VERY annoying and the lack of information is disgraceful but what choice do we have? I for one a) cant afford to appoint a solicitor to get me out of the contract b) shouldnt HAVE to go to those means anyway c) Maybe without internet long term if this all goes belly up.
Angry again now after being calm yesterday. Just hope I get a letter v soon explaining all the mess.0 -
I hope we all get some kind of compensation but am not holding my breathe..I wonder if its just a coincidence that we are switched over after the 17th march when the mac code expires/ time we should have passed to new ISP thus according to BT we will have to wait for the service to cease. I havent had any written confirmation of any of their actions? Any takers? Otherwise I think it may be hard to prove in litigation especially if they say we should have moved as per BT's wholesale instructions and we subsequently incur costs of migrating. Still trying to keep positive about this mess.0

@Strider
I was told we would be getting a months free broadband as a result. To be honest, the way I feel at the moment, they can stick it and Ill switch.
Problem is that they have used my MAC already to transfer to this other lot (without notifying me I hasten to add), and I have been without internet access which I have paid for.
The whole thing is a shambles and I do now regret going with Redten but the way I see it we are stuck with them?
Might have another go at the finance company again today to try and get out of it somehow....0 -
If anyone really wants out then I believe you can cancel and migrate to whoever you choose but you have to give the free pc back. I don't think you're then liable for the 3 years of contract.0
-
IIRC there was a re-stocking fee applied to people who send the PC back.
Also, I seem to recall that on the invoice it said PC=£0 and BB = 36*19.99 so therefore the finance agreement doesnt include the PC. I guess theat they could argue that by not fulfilling the 36 months I am in breach of the contract?
Still very frustrating, I have emailed the finance company again with another complaint, lets see if I get a reply.0 -

I knew when I took this contact out that this kind of thing could happen so I've only got myself to blame. Just hang on for a few more days and see how it all pans out!
My sentiments exactly. Guess just got to ride the storm.0 -
