got mine today to my freeserve address

update.gifRed Ten Internet

Dear Sir

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued patience relating to the recent disruption of your Redten service.

We can confirm that the transfer of service to the new provider NJP is now complete.

We remain confident that Redten are capable of providing your broadband connection as per your contractual arrangements and we are currently working closely with them to ensure that your complaint is resolved.

However, we acknowledge that you are dissatisfied with your service and we are conscious that you may have lost faith in Redten and we therefore wish to present you with an option to settle your account at a reduced rate.

Under your agreement with us you have purchased both hardware equipment and broadband service over an agreed period however if you choose to take up the offer below the equipment will be yours to keep, the broadband service will be terminated and your account closed (and no further direct debits will be due).

Your current loan balance is £399.8 with 20 payments of £19.99 remaining due under the contract however we will accept a payment of £159.8 in full and final settlement of your account.

This equates to a rebate of £12 per month for the remainder of your contract term. In line with the current market this is sufficient to cover the cost of an alternative broadband product from a supplier of your choice.

If you do wish to accept this offer please contact our customer services on 0844 844 4700 prior to 2nd May 2008 to make a single payment by Debit Card. Please ensure you quote reference ‘Redten Offer’. Alternatively you can write to Customer Relations at the above address with a cheque for the settlement amount made payable to Clode Retail Finance.

I would stress that you are no obligation to take up this offer and if you choose not to do this the Redten will continue to provide your contracted service to the end of your contracted period and you will remain liable for the monthly loan repayments due to Clode under the existing finance agreement. shell.jpg

Please note that your finance agreement can only be cancelled by us and cannot be agreed with any other party including Redten Communications Ltd.

Yours Sincerely
Customer Services

There are a number of factually incorrect statements in the emails you've all been getting from Clode.

1: None of you bought equipment from Redten - the equipment was free.

2: They say that Redten can supply you with broadband, as per their contractual agreement. Yes, Redten can supply you with broadband, but not as per contract. The contract is for unlimited broadband with no restrictions. You're all capped at 15GBs now - that's in no way unlimited.

3: They say they are offering you a way out by agreeing a sum for the remainder of the finance agreement minus the cost of broadband. The agreement you all have with Redten is for unlimited broadband and nothing else. If you accept the offer, you're effectively paying them for no reason at all, as you will no longer be supplied with broadband by Redten.

The bottom line is this:

Clode is trying to get back as much of its money as possible. They are trying to make people pay for the free PC/laptop, whilst allowing you all to cancel the broadband contract. I would advise no-one to accept this offer. I suggest writing back to Clode explaining the above. You don't owe them a penny for equipment, as it was free and Redten cannot provide you with unlimited broadband, as per their contractual agreement with you. As such, the only course of action is for a complete cancellation of the contract without financial penality.

jeff - if NJP try to charge you for the extra 14gigs of usage, refuse to pay. After all, you are paying for unlimited broadband. If NJP want extra money, they can get it from Redten. You have no contract with NJP - your contract is with Redten. Thus, it's up to Redten to pay any additional costs for your usage, as they are contractually obligated to provide you with unlimited broadband.

All though I agree with the above, some people may be paying for the router and printer (the added peripherals)etc, so I think that only these should be paid for, and definately don't pay for the FREE PC!!!

Not sure what to do either.

Mines is £170 which for the pc is not worth it especialy as it was FREE!!!! on the invoice and marketing.

I doubt this will be their last offer i think that they are just trying to claw in as much money as they can before the court letters start appearing.

I'm gonna ask a freind who is a lawyer before i respond to Clode
• The way I see it is like this:

Clode has given Redten the money up front (through your loan agreements). If Clode wants money back, go get it back from Redten, as Redten's the one who has broken the contract. As Clode is the finance company involved, they are jointly and equally liable for the breach of contract. Trying to get the money back from you guys is just wrong...both legally and morally.

Nick from Clode - if you're currently working closely with Redten (as you state in the email to Redten's customer base), I suggest you ask Redten to repay the money they have received up front from Clode for provision of unlimited broadband, as they are no longer able to provide the service as per their contractual obligations...and you, as the finance company are equally responsible for the breach. If Redten is unable to pay it back, take Redten to court to recoup the money. You KNOW you don't have a legal leg to stand on with Redten's customer base.

i was trying to set up my deadten email last night / this morning and using -
84.45.23.34 as incoming (pop3)
smtp.redten.net as outgoing server
i put in my full email as per the instructions on the njp site,
and my password from my deadten letter and it refused my password, i found my password on the njp site and cut and pasted it in then it worked (the two are the same)
go to njp site and log in, click on "my email accounts" then click on your email address then click on "edit" it should then so you your password.

Thanks, still cant get in, still fails to send test message. Can I ask, did you change anything under the more settings tab and would your full email be whatever@redten.net

Im tempted to take mine - £185.69 for the laptop, and I've got 31 months left.

Would make the total cost of the laptop around about £275, which is about right.

Do I pay this and get rid of Redten for good??? Im sorely tempted....

Anyone called Clode to get an idea on the timescale for provision of MAc / Closing account?

Don't be tempted...the laptop was free, not £185.69 or £275! Stick to your guns and fight, as you are not obliged to pay for something that was a free gift and you are not receiving the service you are paying for.

Dear Member

You have used over 6GB of bandwidth this month already and we thought we
would send you a quick email to make sure you understand the options
available to you as a valued member. Your account type includes 15Gb of
bandwidth every month. If you think you will need a bit extra this month,
simply visit your members area where you will find the Bolt On options
available to you. They are set out to make it easy and affordable each
month for you to be in control The bolt on's available are discounted so
it is cheaper to buy in bulk than at the end of the month in single units.

I hope this helps and thank you for your much valued custom.

Hi all just read the latest on the forum. I for one have yet again not recieved any comunication from REDTEN or CLODE, although I was told by CLODE last week that they had my details and were sending a letter out.
What gets me though is there is no mention about the return of the free PC to end this contract? I will pay no more to get out as I dont have that sort of money laying around for something that I have not done wrong. ITS THIER MISTAKE.
So back to the phone for me again. At least the final letters are on there way and then courts.

No longer waiting REDTEN:D
