The future is unpredictable and companies do their best to adapt to survive, unfortunately their [sic] are casualties which need to be minimised.

That's all well and good, but if you break a contract then you can't hold customers to it, that's the law. It's plain and simple. You can't go and make up new rules just because you want to.
    Let's think about this.
I agree to but something at an advertised price, you agree to sell it to me at that price and then just half way through handing over the money you say oh no, I've changed my mind you can only have half of what I said but you still need to pay the full amount.
It's illegal, and breaks a large number of laws and regulations. Thats exactly what Redten have done.

Well, I called Mr Gulzar last night whilst driving home. Hands free I hasten to add ;) Anyway, i asked why i didnt receive the call i was promised at lunchtime yesterday. he sounded surprised and said "Me?". I confirmed yes. He then started saying the line was bad and couldnt hear me (!) and hung up - I called back a few mins later and it went straight to his answerphone. I left a message asking him to call me on my mobile OR if after 545 at home. Nothing. I even sent him a text telling him i was at home.

I shall text him again when i can be contacted on my mobile, but this is beyond belief. I for one wont accept paying half of the money - its not the money, its the service we are being provided which they are no longer able to provide. Contract is breached and I wont accept it. Want my MAC, Clode agreement clearing and me to move. They are already in breach of OFCOM regs as I STILL dont have my MAC code.

Asked in writing, email and over the phone. Nothing.

It doesn't do much for consumer confidence when even the MD pulls cunning stunts like that!

I like many of the people on this site have written to both Clode and RT complaining about what has happened. I signed up in Nov 07, payed for all my accessories up front (3 year anti virus, RT wireless modem and a all in one printer at a cost of little over £200, the printer at £80 I never receieved and my emails and complaints fallen on deaf ears). As a result I only pay £13 a month for the "unlimited" "up to 8mbps" internet. I have had a few drop outs of my internet since being re-connected to NJP and also found reduced service during Peak times even though I haven't exceeded (yet) the 15gb cap.

I really cannot see myself being offered half price for this, i for one just want to move to talk talk as I was with them before I moved and have my telephone line and calls through them and they are offering great deals at the moment. I see little point in ringing the "helpless" customer service, could someone who has sought legal advice please tell me if a suspension of direct debit until a suitable comprimise has been achieved is the appropriate legal method?

    Hortibob whats your problem?

It is customary and just good manners to read a thread before posting a comment, however it's no secret.........being a law abiding, fair and reasonable tax payer,I have a problem with criminals and those who seek to exploit others for their own gain, those who's behaviour is dishonest and dishonourable(in simpler terms redten and clode) and indeed I have a problem with the system which allows them to exist.;)

No offence but they are doing!!!! One can only imagine that there are a couple of people in their customer service department and that they are no longer there for assistance!

I have been a subscriber to Computeractive > 6years. I have just emailed them with all details of my communications with Clode/Reten/NJP.
  • There is an excellent article in the current issue (265) of Computeractive magazine.
It details that the BBC's technology chief - Ashley Highfield - (BBC's director of future media & technology) - has hit out at internet service providers. He says (amongst other comments) that "unlimited broadband should mean unlimited & that ISPs should guarantee minimum bandwidth rather than maximum"
The article can be read at www.!!!!!!!.com/26yhbq
(I don't know the reason, but when I post this message, part of the above address appears as !!!!!!!.
    Replace this with !!!!!!!)
