This link is what happened to Prodigy for failure to provide a MAC. I hope you reading this REDTEN a £30,000 fine was imposed by OFCOM:T. Now I have just sent my letters today. I have given them a month to return my service to the one that I have paid for as yet they have failed. They now have until the 14th of this month to provide me with my MAC and terminate the credit agreement.
For everyone who has sent a letter to REDTEN can you send an email copy to OFCOM macevidence@ofcom.org.uk in the subject line put your reference number if you have already registard a complaint. OFCOM asked if I could put this here as they can not use this site as evidence against REDTEN. More waiting but hopfully REDTEN will start to answer some of us.
Iam also checking with citizens advice as to appling chares for comunication with REDTEN. As you would get a charge for the bank sending a letter to you, you can use this as well. To send a repaet letter you can charge them so I have been told by someone who was in a similar situation.
If true I will post or if anyone else finds out they can.
Will speak to you all again soon. Sorry if I have repeated any info but this thread is getting big.Ron.

Thanks for info I have done that twice now but compared with the money Redten have robbed us of £30.000 is peanutsWho cares ??0 -
Yes, but it's £30,000 which I suspect they haven't got anymore and with no new customers on the horizon, it could deal the fatal blow!Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

Dear Sir,
Many thanks for your prompt reply to my letter dated 6th April 2008.
I would, however reiterate that this "new" limited service is not unlimited by any definition and restricts my family’s enjoyment of using the internet and as a product/service is not fit for the intended purpose.
It has become apparent that Redten do not intend to honour the agreement to provide unlimited broadband which I contracted them and you to do.
I would also reiterate that I am entirely and legally entitled to rely on you through our agreement to ensure that my monthly repayments to you provide a product/service which was not put at risk or materially altered without my consent.
You quite rightly point out in your letter that I'm "currently receiving a limited 15GB/month broadband service which differs from the previously unlimited facility". I would draw your attention to: Section 9.3 of the General Conditions issued by the director of OFCOM under section 45 of The Communications Act 2003, in short, Redten were required by law to give me at least 30 days written notice of this change to their service AND to point out my right to terminate the agreement because the change was detrimental to me and not acceptable.
To suggest in your letter that all Redten customers are making illegal downloads of various forms of copyrighted media is utterly farcical and quite frankly offensive.
To further suggest that Redten are seeking any kind of guidance from OFCOM is ludicrous given that OFCOM have told me personally that they have received thousands of complaints about Redtens trading practices and have themselves been trying to contact Redten for over 2 weeks
without success.
You go on to say "15GB/month limit is more than sufficient for the vast majority of users", firstly, I'd be very interested to know how a finance company could make such a statement, particularly in light of the increased demands of online gaming, internet television etc. Secondly, I contracted yourselves and Redten to provide me with an UNLIMITED broadband connection NOT a 15GB/month connection. Finally, I have made considerable efforts, at considerable personal expense to contact Redten on the telephone, via email and via surface mail all to no avail. You are clearly aware of this, as (and I quote from your letter) "we can only apologise again on behalf of Redten" and "we understand from Redten" .I am there for sure you will understand the absurdity of your suggestion that I should contact Redten if I feel that the capped service will adversely affect my usage, since as I've previously stated they are not contactable....yet you would appear to have their ear!!!!
I would like to point out that it is a legal requirement for ISPs to subscribe to one of three arbitrating bodies: ISPA, CISAS or OTELO, Redten have not!! Which is another reason why OFCOM and indeed The Office of Fair Trading have been attempting to contact Redten.
This matter will not be resolved just because you deny the problems exist!!
The contempt with which you have treated your customers, given your clear joint liability under the law is outrageous. Whilst having communication with Redten and knowing by the volume of complaints (and I daresay by your own solicitors' research) you have known them to be in breach of contract yet you have done nothing to resolve the matter, rather you have sought to miss-direct, "wash your hands" and "stonewall" those complainants in an attempt to protect a financial investment and a trading partner! Shame on you!!!
In conclusion, within 7 days of receipt of this letter, I require you to cancel my agreement with you to provide a direct debit of £**.**/month to yourselves for the term remaining, without penalty and without any adverse effect on my credit record. This is to be done with confirmation in writing to myself. Should this not be forthcoming, I will be left with no option other than litigation.
I would finally point out that it is common courtesy and a fundamental demonstration of respect for the recipient, to sign a letter, I would there for urge you not to make this mistake again!0
