Folks, see this excerpt from the T&C's:
"12.10 If at any time our Broadband supplier ceases to provide
services that we are unable to continue to provide any of
the Services to you, we shall seek alternative to provide and
you will then need to transfer to the new Broadband supplier.
We will not be liable for any costs incured by yourself during
this process. You will continue to pay the monthly charges
 for PC/hardware you have purchased."

            Hello everyone,
I have managed to login to webmail via the links at the top of https://www.redten.net and found the following three emails. Apoloiges in advance for length of post.
 First Email, Feb 26th
 Dear Sirs
We at Redten Internet seek to provide you with a consistent, high
quality service and excellent value for money. Given the numerous
complaints regarding the current service you are receiving utilising the
BT Wholesale managed broadband service, we are searching the market for
a broadband service provider who will deliver consistent quality.
It is envisaged that any changes that may take place will not affect
your connection in any way. We are in lengthy negotiations with a new
service partner called Opal Telecom Networks (part of AOL/CPW BB group)
who have a half a billion dollar plus network infrastructure, and we are
also looking to see how we can save you money on your current line
rental and call costs with BT by partnering with Carphone Warehouse's
TalkTalk telecom division. We are looking to save you some 30 to 50% on
your call bills. (since you do not have to have the line rental with BT
 with our new partner)
We shall keep you updated and will continue, always, to strive to offer
you a better service and to help you save money where we can in these
 uncertain economic times.
 Best regards
 Customer Services Team

 Third Email, March 10th:
 Dear
Further to our previous email, the process of transfering your Redten Internet
connection to our new faster backbone (upto 24Mb speed) is in progress. Some of you
may lose some services temporarily (with the possibility of not being able to
connect for a day or so). The service should be fully operational before the end of
 this week.
Apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause.
 Yours sincerely

Thanks paddytag, but I think the last one has already been posted and the first have been summed up anyway. I think there is a message on their site explaining isn't there?0

As another unhappy Redten mug i thought many of you may like to know that if you call them on the 0844 482 0000 number which is on one of the pieces of original paperwork the calls take about 30mins to be answered but only cost 5p per minute - much better than the 09 number which is 50ppm! They were answering on that number Tuesday (11/03) morning. I was told that the service should be running by Wednesday night and the business will be managed by Fast4 internet. I have checked out the Fast4 website and they do offer 24Mb broadband. Perhaps there is hope yet (although i am sceptical!).
I hope it's not Fast4 internet have a look on google how poor they are will not be happy if they swap over.0

Doesn't that basically mean they can transfer us over (which they are apparently doing) and any costs have to be met by us, I assume they mean costs as in upgrading my pc if it's not compatible. No way am I paying any extra, I've paid them for providing 3 years service and they aren't getting a penny extra!
If they fail to provide the service at all then as far as I know we don't have to pay the direct debit as we're covered by the consumer credit act which basically makes the credit company joint liable for the lack of service.0

            Cheers Paddytag,
Doesn't realy tell us anything new. Like I say - for me their deadline is friday then i'll jump ship. Anyone know if we would still need to pay off the finance company if they have gone bust???0
-
            Benji,
Do you know if there is any one or body that could confirm if we are covered by the act. I would want my credit rating to suffer cause of some two bit web providers incompetance0

I am waiting on an reply i sent to the finance company regarding where we stand according to their agreement if they are not providing a service then you have grounds to sue them.0

 Oh dear!

"Fast4 should be the last4 your internet access!
Summary: Avoid if you use the Internet a lot."
This is why they are swapping, obviously Fast4 offer a cheaper service than BT but at the cost of quality. I wonder what would happen if we got cut off, would we have to pay and/or give the pc back? We signed up to an unlimited service and it should still be unlimited, if they decide to cut us off because they want to enforce a limit then where do we stand. They would not be providing the service that I signed up to so I wouldn't expect to pay, they could take the pc back but it's basically worthless now anyway. Under the consumer credit act they'd still be liable for the lack of service so would either have to provide or not get any more money wouldn't they?0

You'd obviously need a laywer to give you that sort of info. I expect trading standards or similar would be happy to offer advice though. AFAIK in the consumer credit act it basically says that a company that offers credit in return for a service or goods is in that case of the service or goods not being provided joint liable for it. Hence why credit card companies offer chargebacks, they have to! I think you're meant to pay the first £50 tho.0
