    Hi there,

O2 did need to get one of their managers to authorise the cancellation, but once he'd done that they didn't think there'd be any problems. I hope not anyway :rotfl:
  • This may be the only way I am able to get a reply from Redten as unfortunately despite numerous phone calls and emails over the last 2 months they are either failing to reply or on the occasions I do speak to them lie through their back teeth.

I applied for service with them at the beginning of January but was unfortunately turned down, however this was after they had already taken their £49.99 deposit. I was assured after 2 weeks that a refund would be imminent but by the beginning of February I was being told there was a problem with their finance department and it may take a little longer.

I rang again at the beginning of last week and was told it would be processed immediately and an email would be sent within 24 hours confirming this.... but surprise surprise still no email and still no refund. If there is still a Redten presence on here could you please explain to myself and anyone else interested why your staff are blatantly lying about their actions and why you refuse to reply to email on the subject

Spoke to the finance company there and they have told me to put a complaint into their finance dept their account manager has been chasing Redten and they are not returning calls or emails to them either.
I asked if i could cancel the service as i am not getting what was promised and was told it is only the account manager who can make that decision.
So i will send off an email and see whay happens.

  • the article basically outlines what is said in BT's Notice of termination and doesnt actually have any additional facts that redten has folded. Quotes "appears to have ceased trading" . Funnily the MSE's here seem to have more luck with the premium phone line than the writers of the article. I only hope the service comes back in the next 24hrs and Redten put this down to a PR disaster. Still no official line other than BT's termination notice.

As another unhappy Redten mug i thought many of you may like to know that if you call them on the 0844 482 0000 number which is on one of the pieces of original paperwork the calls take about 30mins to be answered but only cost 5p per minute - much better than the 09 number which is 50ppm! They were answering on that number Tuesday (11/03) morning. I was told that the service should be running by Wednesday night and the business will be managed by Fast4 internet. I have checked out the Fast4 website and they do offer 24Mb broadband. Perhaps there is hope yet (although i am sceptical!).

And just to note - my internet is down but i'm piggybacking on a neighbours connection as they are unlikely to kick me off at 0100.

Nothing mate, can't see how they can make any money off of all the things they provide so I still expect them to fold at some point.

BT are surely in big trouble if the service continues??? They're giving out MAC codes which will put people in breach of contract.

Only way I can think BT will get away with it is that Redten have decided to change providers and in fact are refusing to pay BT for the last month for example. That way the service would continue and BT's message would still be true. If it wasn't true do you think BT would still have that message up?

Think they'll still be in trouble for giving out MACs though, they'll be liable for any trouble that causes won't they? Might be worth doing it to get out of the contract and then making BT clear up the mess as they told you to do it?
