    I'm also a redten customer and got the same message from BT wholesale when i logged in. Just piggybacked on a neighbours connection to look at my redten email and got the following mail from their support;

Further to our previous email, the process of transfering your Redten Internet
connection to our new faster backbone (upto 24Mb speed) is in progress. Some of you
may lose some services temporarily (with the possibility of not being able to
connect for a day or so). The service should be fully operational before the end of
    this week.

Apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause.

    Yours sincerely

Just phoned the redten sales number which has a very dodgy message on the anwser phone 0844 482 0000 sounds like the phone was cut off mid sentence.
  • just a thought .. the msg may be out of hrs ..though all this doesnt bode well.. and smell very fishy. I had an email 26th feb about searching for a broadband provider to delivery constant quality..negotiations with new service partner opal telecom networks ( complaints re BT wholesale ).. then on 3rd march the email re technical email and changing backbone provider. It all looks like it makes sense but I have to say the communication from RedTen has not been helpful.

Just checked my redten email and seen the same email
" Some of you may lose some services temporarily (with the possibility of not being able to connect for a day or so). The service should be fully operational before the end of this week" would've been better to have this before they switched it off.
Gonna wait for a day or so .....

    Hi,

Last night I tried to get onto the internet only to receive a message from BT wholesalers that my Redten internet has been cancelled and this for a couple of reasons. One being that they may not be paying their bills.
BT have given me an option to get my MAC code to transfer my broadband or cancel broadband.
Is this a problem that everyone else is having?
As this is a breach of contract by Redten does this mean I am able to cancel my DD for the service?

If it is to be, it is up to me

I have the same problem - no access and the bt wholesale message.

I phoned the technical line - (the 50p a minute one!) and they told me it was cause they are switching providers and not to worry as it should be back on in a day or so.

THey also said not to cancel the account on the BT page and if you have requested a MAC number, dont use it to sign up with someone else as this will cancel your reten account.

Hopefully this will be sorted soon...
  • Something very fishy about this, don't think BT would put that sort of message up without it being true. Imagine the trouble they'd be in for basically saying another company's gone bust. It could even make Redten go bust if it makes confidence in them drop so that people stop signing up!
