I signed up for this service and as soon as i signed up they are straight onto you about signing the credit agreement and sending it back as it will hold up the process getting the PC and Modem from them has been a complete nightmare i have had to chase them nonstop to get dates of when the connection would be setup when i would get the PC/Laptop and modem what was my username and password they never reply to emails and when you finally get through to them on the phone they are very unhelpful and give as little info as possible.
The PC has eventually turned up and seems decent enough and to be fair the internet connection has been superb as for the laptop i have no idea where it is or when it will arrive as i haven't been able to get through to them the other thing that worries me is they still haven't taken any money from my account for the service and when i checked the bank no direct debits have been set up.
We found initially they had not taken any money from his account but they did and still are...............and he has no screen for the PC nor have they set up the internet...its three months now.........
I think for me is that you push and push and then when you start getting uptight they start getting more sinister.........imho they appear to have gone out their way to get rid of my elderly friend. Why any company would be cheeky enough to recommends going to another company rather than keep you amazes me....
I can see this going to court unfortunatly and it is a shame as the deal was good....but as a previous reply alluded.....it was too good to be true...0 -
same thing seem to be happening to my daughter she signed up for the computer package with REDTEN back in november 2007 after phone calls & emails had a reply Jan 7 to say that it would arrive in three weeks due to extra orders over christmas after several more emails & phone calls still no reply to either so far all she has paid is the connection fee not much good without any thing to connect to i signed up for the package in September took six to seven weeks to arrive & so far every thing is working fine0

After alot of consideration and reading of the T & C's on the Redten Internet site I decided to order their package of a free laptop with a Broadband account. I was required to pay a £50 deposit which would be refunded if I wasn't accepted by their credit providers. The wording on the site was that if not accepted the charge and refund would cancel each other out and would be instant. That was the 3rd of January and as of today i still haven't been refunded!! As well as the obvious inconvenience I have also made numerous phone calls to them sometimes having to wait up to an hour for my call to be taken only to be told a pack of lies about my refund being actioned before the end of the business day! Each time i called i was told that the previous call had not been logged and nothing was being done but they would now see to it!! This has gone on for 2 months and i am nearing the end of my tether as not only can i not afford to be without this £50 but also the sheer frustration of being repeatedly told the same story by these prats only to have to call and start all over again in the next couple of days.
Can Someone please advise as to what to do next as i am practically in tears each time i call and get no where......again and god only knows what my phone bill will be after the endless hours spent trying to get MY money from these incompetent ar****oles??Ritetidy x0 -
Have you tried asking to speak to a supervisor and asking what their procedure is for escalating a complaint? Refuse to take no for an answer if they tell you dont need to speak to a supervisor,as you can tell them you wish to escalate the complaint officially.Refuse their claims they can resolve it,if necessary ask them "Are you refusing to put me through to a Supervisor?"Then follow her/his advice ,eventually putting the complaint in writing by registered post.Get the Supervisors name, and dept and contact number, and insist they make a note of what you are saying now.If the Supervisor says they will get it credited ,insist they ring you back to confirm they have done it. You will probably have to write though. Also if you at home on a weekday, try ringing them as soon as they open.
Did you pay by credit card?0 -

Thanks for the reply but I have tried all of the above....the Head of Department is seemingly a Mr Andrew Hill but he is too busy to speak with me!!!! Also they claim to record every call and i was able to provide them with various dates and times they were 'in the process' of checking through these. Sooooo frustrating knowing that I'm completely wasting my time and money day after day!!Ritetidy x0 -
Ok,so you still need to ask for the official procedure to escalate complaints-its usually to raise it with a Supervisor/Manager,then write if no satisfaction. You need to follow their laid down procedure so that you can complain to the official body (?Ofcom?).I do know what you are going through as i had dealings with a very similar company once. You dont necessarily need the Head of dept-a standard supervisor will do.,someone who has authority to credit your account.0

I would stop ringing them up, its only winding you up. Send them a letter that you require the refund within 14 days of the date of the letter otherwise you will institute court proceedings against them as well as reporting them to OFCOM. If they dont pay, you start a small claims procedure against them. Result is you either get paid or not, however you dont fork out for any more phone calls and dont keep getting upsetAha, so thats how you do a signature!0

Have just called them back as they requested i do this morning as a 'manager' was now dealing with it supposedly! Spoke to Billy the supervisor who, once again refused to put me through to the manager and told me that i would not be given compensation for my 2 month delay and additional costs from numerous phone calls. When i disputed this and stated that i had incurred this expense/inconvenience due to and i quote 'the incompetence of the various employees i have spoken with, not personally at yourself' he said he no longer wanted to help me because he doesnt take abuse and put the phone down!!!! Before that he confirmed that no refund had been actioned and previous collegues i had dealt with hadn't issued any form of refund-after being told on no fewer than 7 occasions that i would have my refund before the end of business.
If i wasnt a single parent struggling as it is, i would tell them to stick it!Ritetidy x0 -
I agree with Hugo..
That call was pointless, you didnt acheive anything, other than stressing yourself...If they cant even log your calls..and they havent actioned your money being refunded, theres little chance of you getting any compensation, even though you probably deserve it.I think you are wearing yourself out and not reacting very logically. You need to stick to an action plan.0
