    Links to your findings ??

Personally i think you are spamming, why are you going to Redten to get your free laptop, according to your post you already have the pc and its a 3 year contract

I think you should read my post again, I said that I left Redten when the problem occured with Watford Electronics. I've still got my PC, nobody chased me up for breaching a contract and now I've signed up again and will get 2 free laptops. I think that was some serious Money saving :-)
  • Just wondering if anyone was with Redten Internet?
Just looked at their website http://www.redteninternet.com/compare.aspx and their offers seem tempting but just wondered if anyone was with them and if they are what are they like?

I've been reading all the redten posts on here - but there aren't any recent comments.
At the mo I'm paying £21.99 for plusnet (great connection and support) and have been with them for about 7 years at that price - so moneywise the 3 year contract isn't an issue for me.
My main worry is what the broadband service is like? What have people been finding recently? My OH has a serious gaming 'hobby' so its quite important that its good.
Also - I can't make it out from the T&C - what happens if the connection sucks - do I have a way out without paying the 'restocking fee'?
I also got a bit confused over who owns it now and what happens if they go bust - would I still have to keep paying?
If anyone has any thoughts I'd be most appreciative.
    Thanks
  • Redten on the face of it offer an unprecedented deal.......under £14 a month for up to 8mb broadband and a free PC......you do need to sign up for three years though........so why would people not want to sign up....a friend of mine did and this is a snap shot of what happened.....

First of all the PC never arrived...........telephone call after telephone call to find out where it was............totally unhelpful with the regular catchphrase of - We will call you back.

However they never did call back and this happened many times.

The computer arrived weeks later apparently having gone via someone elses house..............had a different address on it....The PC was set up only to find the monitor did not work. The to find the disk drive did not work....then to find that it was not connected inside the PC...then to find the speakers did not work.........again complaints where made and a new screen requested.......it never arrived.

The broadband service was not set up and BT blamed Redten and Redten blamed BT. Nothing was moving forward and Redten did not wish to talk about it. The credit agency stated they had sympathy however Redten has a name for itself so they sympathised some more. The last resort was to go to the office of fair trade. Under their guidance a letter was written and then came a telephone call stating a new monitor was on its way....but it never arrived......then there was a hurried phone call from Redten requesting the PC be returned. It was stated that WE in big letters had a problem and demanded the PC back that day. Stated Tiscalli was a good provider and had good deals and we should move to them. They even stated my friend should pay for postage or they could just buy the PC for a small sum. Asked why they could not provide a service and they refused to answer......

Now to add final injury to insult this person is a pensioner who was looking forward to their first use of the internet and Redten have IMHO treated them dismally.

    Any ideas?

if it looks too good to be true, it probably is!

please be aware tiscali have a very bad reputation (deservedly)

I signed up for this service and as soon as i signed up they are straight onto you about signing the credit agreement and sending it back as it will hold up the process getting the PC and Modem from them has been a complete nightmare i have had to chase them nonstop to get dates of when the connection would be setup when i would get the PC/Laptop and modem what was my username and password they never reply to emails and when you finally get through to them on the phone they are very unhelpful and give as little info as possible.
The PC has eventually turned up and seems decent enough and to be fair the internet connection has been superb as for the laptop i have no idea where it is or when it will arrive as i haven't been able to get through to them the other thing that worries me is they still haven't taken any money from my account for the service and when i checked the bank no direct debits have been set up.
