Hi just been on to FO they cant do anything for anyone who took out deals with clode before April 2007
Clode are not regulated by anyone, so no help there. Just got the standard letter back from clode saying that the find the matter closed ( please some one tell me thats a joke ) Solicitor doesnt want to take the case as he says its to messy and could cost me a small fortune.
None of the so called reg bodies ie offcm etc want to know. So as from today I have canccelled the direct debit to clode and will be with talk talk from tomorow. I for one will be glad to be taken to court by Clode as I shall make sure it is in all the papers and at least local radio.
We all need to make a stance, if everyone cancelled the DD then things would come to a head very quickly.
I think publishing negative comments weakens others resolve and encourages the enemy
Who cares ??

• I too have been trying to contact Redten on the 0208 number - the first time was engaged, but using the auto redial function on my office phone, eventually managed to get the dialling tone. However, after about 5 minutes of ringing, I got the message 'Opposite Hang UP'. I tried again and the same result after a lesser time, so obviously someone was there getting fed up of the phone ringing!!! Tough!

I decided to phone Clode and spoke to Beata, a name referred to in earlier posts, and found her to be friendly and helpful. I explained my situation (i.e. signed up in Jan 08, still awaiting my laptop, don't expect to get it, utter p!$h service and donwload caps being dished out to the existing customers) to Beata, who immediately picked up on the part where I mentioned not receiving the laptop and router. She said she could not deal with it over the phone but could I send either an e-mail (to customer.relations AT cloderetailfinance.com), letter or fax to Clode ASAP and they would arrange to contact Redten (good luck to them!) to confirm that I would not be receiving my equipment. If that is the case, she expected that I would not have a problem cancelling my finance agreement and receiving a MAC code (I suppose that's as long as Redten don't suddenly turn up with my laptop!) given that I had not received what I signed up for (isn't that the case for ALL Redten users with the broadband cap now in place?!).

I have now submitted an e-mail to the above address and anxiously await a (hopefully positive) response from Clode. Will keep you posted...

Europe rejects anti-piracy plans

European politicians have voted down calls to throw suspected file-sharers off the net.
The idea to cut off persistent pirates formed part of a wide-ranging report on creative industries written for the European parliament.

how does this sit with Redten and Clodes pathetic excuses

In a way, yes. The solicitor will know that the best and cheapest way to handle this is to force Clode to take the customer to court by stopping payments. Before doing this, however, you'd have to make damn certain you've written to Clode/Redten a number of times to get this resolved to your satisfaction (i.e. provide the service you're paying for), and given them adequate time to respond/sort the issue out. If you are able to prove you've done everything within your power to resolve the issue with Clode/Redten, yet the issues surrounding the original breach are still not resolved, no judge will find against you should Clode then take this to the County Court. It also means Clode has to pursue you, rather than the other way around. Just make sure you do everything in writing and sent by recorded delivery. Keep copies of everything you send, and make sure you given them adequate time to respond (7 working days normally works). Remember to let Clode know in writing that if the matter is not satisfactorily resolved within the time frame, you will consider them in breach and will stop payments to them. If anyone follows this route, make sure that you ask for the hearing to be moved to the closest court to you...it will cost Clode even more money to turn up and fight their corner then. :D

Not quite what you meant, eh, Loaded. ;)

How have you managed to get your MAC code, so that you have the ability to go with talk talk tomorrow? Their advertising states that without a MAC code connection it could take up to 4 weeks, and has been stated here already if you do default YOU will breach the contract, chances are, Clode will sell on your debt, the debt collector will add his costs, and if it does come to a court you will be the defendant and trying to prove your innocence, personally I would prefer to take the opposition to court and let them defend their position.
Clode and Redten will not be the first people I have taken to the County Court, the last one had a judgement passed against him for £25,000 with £6,500 of court costs plus interest at 8%, so I am quite prepared to play the game.

TalkTalk doesn't need a MAC to move over to them.

Easy way around them selling on the debt - You're disputing it.

i have sent this to working lunch i think piracy is a hot topic and worthy news and maybe they will pick up on the rest of the sorry tale
.............................................................
I wonder if you can help or advise me
I responded to an advert from REDTEN ISP in January 2007 and sighned up with them for 8mg unlimited broadband and got a free pc ........the deal was.. sighn for 3 years and get a free pc you could pay 3 years up front = £720 or intrest free credit agreement at £19.99 a month. I went for the finance (clode finance) and my computer arrived and my internet was changed to REDTEN all went well.
On the 6th march i got an e-mail asking me to back up e-mails due to major work on the system
On the 10th march i got a further e-mail saying they were changing my connection to a new faster backbone (up to 24mb) and i might not be able to connect for a couple of days
Later in the day on march 10th i recieved a walled garden message from BT Wholesale informing me that my service had been terminated, either because REDTEN had ceased trading or continaully not paid invoices, also pointed out that should i want to continue recieving broadband i would need to find an alternative provider. I was able to get my mac code from the walled garden page
I rang REDTEN and could not get any answer, so i called clode finance who told me they were as much in the dark as me so i rang BT and ordered broadband from them as i had been instructed by the walled garden page
It took BT a week to sort out my new broadband and in all that time i had no connection from REDTEN
I have been following a forum on the moneysavingexpert web site about the REDTEN situation a forum that is being followed by both REDTEN and CLODE, the service came back on line on the 19th march through NJP Services, a company which sells wholesale broadband services based on BT's network. NJP confirmed that it had struck a deal with Redten, though it denied customers were being upgraded to a 24Mb/sec connection.
"Customers will not be moved to our LLU 24Mb/sec service automatically but will be given the option in the future to upgrade to such a service," said a spokesperson. The service has since been capped at various usage limits starting at 2Gb per month and currently set at 15Gb per month, an amount that unusually is comprised of both upload and download data.
Currently a large number of RedTen customers are seeking legal advice as this is a clear Breach of contract by RedTen.
I am currently stuck with a credit agreement for internet that i cant use for no fault of my own and even if i could use it it is not what i signed up for and would be of no use to me.
REDTEN are impossible to contact CLODE say speak to REDTEN
The only other comunication ive recieved after sending 2 letters to both REDTEN and CLODE asking for the finance agreement to be cancelled
is a letter about piracy
Dear Sir

Following on from your recent complaint and further to our previous note of 1st April 2008 you will now have been fully connected to the new Broadband service provided under your Redten agreement by NJP services.

We understand and appreciate the difficulties you will have experienced during the transfer of service from BT to NJP services and can only apologise again on behalf of Redten.

You will note that the NJP supplied broadband service is currently limited to a maximum 15GB download limit per month which differs from the previously supplied ‘unlimited’ facility provided under the BT service.

We understand from Redten that this is a temporary measure introduced whilst they evaluate the recent industry concerns around illegal downloads of various forms of copyrighted media.

It is currently unclear what responsibility ISP’s have in relation to the illegal downloading of these type and they are seeking OFCOM guidance on this matter.

The 15GB per month limit will prove more than sufficient for the vast majority of users however if you feel that this will adversely affect your usage we would ask that you contact Redten as soon as possible to discuss your needs.
shell.jpg
We now consider this matter resolved however you can be assured that we will continue to monitor your service to try to avoid any future problems of this type arising again.

Regards

Customer Services
Clode Retail Finance

I and others are at there whits end nobody wants a bad credit rating or baillifs knocking at the door but how can i and others continue paying for a service we dont recieve and a service that is not what was agreed when the contracts were signed
I feel that REDTEN and CLODE have clearly broken the contract in many ways but how do we resolve this terrable mess any help or advice you can offer will be more than welcome
Thank You

Any moderator fancy doing a lookup on Loaded's IP address to see if it's located anywhere near Redten offices? Anyone with half a brain would be going through an anonymous proxie to cover their tracks. But this is Redten so their probably posting straight out their default gateway. My guess is Loaded's IP will be somewhere in the 62.253.n.n range.
