Ref the crap below from Clode

If the bandwidth limit is to stop my sharing of copy rite material then their offer of extra bandwidth is tantamount to accepting payment for illegal downloads

    Red Ten Internet

    [FONT=Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif] Dear Sir

Following on from your recent complaint and further to our previous note of 1st April 2008 you will now have been fully connected to the new Broadband service provided under your Redten agreement by NJP services.

We understand and appreciate the difficulties you will have experienced during the transfer of service from BT to NJP services and can only apologise again on behalf of Redten.

You will note that the NJP supplied broadband service is currently limited to a maximum 15GB download limit per month which differs from the previously supplied ‘unlimited’ facility provided under the BT service.

We understand from Redten that this is a temporary measure introduced whilst they evaluate the recent industry concerns around illegal downloads of various forms of copyrighted media.

It is currently unclear what responsibility ISP’s have in relation to the illegal downloading of these type and they are seeking OFCOM guidance on this matter.

The 15GB per month limit will prove more than sufficient for the vast majority of users however if you feel that this will adversely affect your usage we would ask that you contact Redten as soon as possible to discuss your needs.

We now consider this matter resolved however you can be assured that we will continue to monitor your service to try to avoid any future problems of this type arising again.

I think we are talking of a few million quid here.
Can't see clode forking out for that without a fight.

Going on the account numbers, obviously allowing a large margin for error, I would estimate a couple of million if settle all accounts, but I doubt if 10% of customers are looking for out, who knows apart from RT and Clode, and at the end of the day that is their business and their problem, mine is getting the hell out.

While NJP/Redten had me disconnected for whatever reason last week, I signed up for a dialup service with Tiscali as it was cheaper than paying per minute. For anyone interested their service is £14.99 per month with 150 hours of online time, and I was getting around 42 kbs download rates on average, better and cheaper than some of you have recently had from RT broadband and certainly better than I was getting, I shall be using it when I get my line breached if I don't get a mac code soon. I should be able to claim it back as a necessary expense borne out of Redtens failures.
I spoke to Mike and Nichola (sorry if name spelled wrongly) supposed to be getting back to me after they speak to RT. Did say that they are also having difficulties and so her reply may be tomorrow!!
    Will keep you all posted

People I can confirm that this number is actually RedTen
02088105244, Saves calling the 0844 482 0000 number, and although sometimes it just rings for ages, it's far better than the teribble music on hold.

    Hello,

My letters to Redten and Clode were delivered today. As this was my first complaint to Clode I haven't had the email stating 15Gb limit due to piracy. Should be interesting though as my complaint is about the limit.

On an another thought are Redten accusing all their customers of piracy? My thoughts on the limit is that they've got their business model wrong. Assumed people wouldn't use the internet much and failed to put in any contingency for traffic growth.
