    Just noticed this bit
"Please note these terms and conditions are for new customers only; existing customers need to refer to the terms set out in their My Account space."

Don't know if we are classed as new or old customers but this was in my account space?

My cap is now set at 15 Gig I posted earlier that fast4 the other half of NJP caused outcry when there unlimited was caped at 15 Gig unannounced that Redten started cap at 2 gig then went 5 and I predicted they would go to 15 at which point we were supposed to be so very grateful for there generosity that we would all accept it

Whilst 15 is more than I need I can not accept their imposed condition and total lack of consideration for their (for the moment ) captive customers.

I will depart Redten at the first chance of getting mac and endeavour to call a halt to Clodes contract

Some one posted about BT doing a migration (from RT to BT without a MAC ) I have tried with no success BT say they can not remove the Murphx ( or some thing like that ) tag who ever they are without MAC

I think that is the spelling if not please accept my apologies Murphax, are the provider RT migrated us all to and if my understanding is correct the supplier to fast4 and others, I was speaking with them yesterday (several times) to try and get my line back up and running, nice polite people but still met with the same "contact Redten Bulls**t) so more pennies down the drain, have written it all off now and taken out a monthly dial up account which means at least I can get back online whilst I dump these ******** (insert whatever name you like)
My letters are in the post today and I have legal cover on my insurance which I shall invoke should I encounter any sort of problem getting out of this contract, which as they are providing me with no service whatsoever I cannot see a problem.

When you say the connection log 'resets', do you mean the 'Total GB' column resets to zero when the 'Packet Type' is Stop/Start or does your whole connection log get cleared?

If the former occurs it won't be resetting your bandwidth used counter for the month. The connection log shows cumulative data transferred since the last connection made.

I mean it all resets to zero, Time connected, Upld GB, Dnld GB, and Total GB.

It hasn't done it again so looks like it was a one off.

Managed to get through to RedTen this time only a 30minute wait, the guy that answered kept asking wher ein their T&C's does it state that this is an unlimited service, Told him it was all over the website and my order, but he wouldn't accept that only said where in the T&C's, also quoted him his own Fair Usage Policy, but again T&Cs spouted by him.

I cannot believe how crass this is. A RedTen employee trying to argue over contract terms - and getting it completly wrong to boot. This Redten numpty hasn't a clue about contract law if he thinks EVERYTHING ie all terms and condions of a contract are neatly listed under "Terms and conditions" These are where the EXPRESS terms and conditions are to be found.

Don't take any of this rubbish if Redten try it out again.

Our contract with them also contains IMPLIED terms AND those terms and conditions which are governed by Staute - such as Consumer Laws.

Redten's advertising stated that the Broadband was UNLIMITED - subject only to a fair-usage policy. The fair-usage policy is explained in FAQ. Did the statement "UNLIMITED broadband" induce us into the contract with Redten? You bet. Therefore it IS a term of the contract.

FURTHERMORE we are protected by Consumer Laws - it is an implied term in the sale and supply of goods and services that THE GOODS AND SERVICES WILL CORRESPOND TO THEIR DESCRIPTION. That is selling us UNLIMITED BROADBAND means we should get UNLIMITED BROADBAND. This is Statute consumer Law - Redten cannot opt-out of it.

It doesn't matter that it is not listed as UNLIMTED broadband in their express terms and conditions. Just as if I go into a car showroom and order a red car, it will not be listed in the express terms and conditions that the car is red. But it will have been agreed by the description of goods at the time of making the contract - and consumer law says the car must match the description.

So guys, don't let RedTen staff fob you off with spouting rubbish about something they obviously haven't got a clue about. If they insist - ask for their full name and position and have them up for misrepresenting facts.

Dont forget your are also entitled to free upgrade to 24 speed for that cost whebn it is availalble and I believe BT are to speed up the availability for tst this year --commenced in March in some areas. I am in the sticks a bit and due to be done Sep to Nov. so big cities will be due before then. You can check on their web site.

    F.

I spoke with NJP about this when we first got moved over, NJP are not on the same setup as BT and if you want the upgrade to 24MB (which will be before BT do theirs) we will have to fork out for it.
So again this isn't what Redten are advertising, but their quote on their site is "the promise of a free upgrade to 24Mb* broadband when local exchanges are upgraded" with the small print of * Actual download speed dependent on distance from local BT exchange".

Check with NJP if you wnat to confirm as this is something else you can put in your letters if I'm correct.

[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif]We appreciate that you have been experiencing difficulties over recent weeks with your Broadband Access from Red Ten following the recent transfer of service from BT to NJP.

All parties have been working closely to resolve these issues and I pleased to confirm that agreement has been reached on the way forward and we expect full service to resume very shortly.

In addition to the provision of a full broadband service we also expect to see the launch of a new customer service line to help with any questions you may have.

I understand your frustration in this matter however I would ask you to bear with us for a short while longer as you can expect further detailed communications on the above in the next couple of days. shell.jpg

"The little known UK ISP Redten has finally revealed the details of its broadband + FREE PC promotion, which was first reported on last month (here):

A unique broadband deal for consumers and businesses was launched today. For a monthly fee of only £19.99 every customer will receive a comprehensive PC package worth £500 as part of the broadband offer.

This service is being provided by Redten Internet, which is under the umbrella of Watford Electronics Group, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of IT products for the home and business, in partnership with BT Wholesale, Intel, Microsoft, LG Electronics, F-Secure and Belkin.

Beyond its promise of providing a personal computer as part of its broadband offer, Redten Internet will also be providing 365-day telephone technical support throughout the length of the customer relationship, free software titles, free operating system upgrade voucher, free upgrade of bandwidth and an automatic upgrade of computer when the three-year contract is renewed.

Early adopters will receive their broadband connection and computer in time for Christmas. The PC will arrive fully configured and ready to connect to the internet. The package is backed by a 3-year warranty and an anti-virus and parental-control software suite.

Customers will also have access to a specially-designed portal, through which they’ll be able to access email, populate their webspace, read BBC news and sport stories, and search the internet.

For those who wish to have their PC and internet set up for them there is a home-installation service whereby a technician will visit the customer’s house to set everything up for a charge of £32 or for an additional £1 on the monthly subscription fee over the three-year contract.

A range of upgrade packages aimed at beginners, families and businesses is also available which includes printers, surge protectors, software and the home-installation service.

    1. Specification of the PC
    • 3GHz Intel Pentium 4 531 HT processor
    • 945GZ Motherboard with 3D graphics, sound & networking
    • 512MB DDR2 Memory
    • 160GB Ultra-ATA 133 hard disk drive
    • 19” LG 1919S LCD Monitor (free upgrade from 17” LG monitor on first 10,000 units)
    • 200W stereo speakers
    • Silver/Black LG optical mouse
    • Silver/black LG Keyboard
    • Mini-ATX case with 300W PSU
    • MS Windows XP MCE 2005 Operating System with free upgrade voucher to MS Windows Vista
    • All formats LG SuperMulti 18X DVD player/rewriter
    • ADSL 2+ external modem
    • 90-day F-Secure Internet Security Suite (anti-virus, anti-spam, parental control)
    • 3-year Return-to-Base Parts-and-Labour warranty
    • 365-day telephone technical support

    2. Broadband specification
    • Up to 8Mb broadband (exchange dependent)
    • Unlimited downloads (subject to a fair-usage policy)
    • 5 email addresses
    • 10GB web space
    • Users with BT lines will automatically be upgraded to 24Mb for no extra charge when it becomes available from April 2007.

There is also a modem and connection charge of £49.99 and we couldn't find the Fair Usage Policy on their website, although it might be hidden inside the general Terms & Conditions.

Typically the biggest draw back to Redten's offer is that it requires you, albeit understandably, to subscribe for a period of three years! By personal rule it’s always wise to avoid any contracts longer than 3 months."

Think this is why everyone signed up!

Have the emails from clode been coming through on the default redten email.
If so it's going to be a bit hit and miss if we all get one at all.
