    we can only switch to talk talk or virgin without a mac (where they are availible) as they use a different system to that which bt uses.

    Myself, i've gone with talk talk.
  • Ofcom are investigating Redten. Just been on the phone with them.

    At last we may get a Regulator to do its job. They are concerned that the dont belong to otelo or CISAS. Otelo said we are not allowed to comment about redten please ring Ofcom for an update.

    Ofcom said they posted some kind of update on their website. About ISP's not being a member of otelo or CISAS she mentioned a ADR?

    I asked her to look at this thread.

    She said they have been. So Have NJP and Clode.

    ADR is a disputes procedure like CISAS supplies--cannot submit a claim to CISAS until 12 weeks have passed since you complained to your provider. Not much good if the company shuts down in the meantime.

    Nice post snorker, a clipit from that website, ring any bells folks?
    Hey Mr Deadten, your days are numbered!

    "Ofcom is also extending its investigation into mis-selling in the fixed line market. The investigation covers all types of mis-selling including:
    • slamming, where a consumer is switched to another provider without their knowledge;
    • when communications providers pass themselves off as other companies;
    • when communications providers fail to provide important information to consumers, for example, the minimum contract duration or details of early termination fees; and
    • when communications providers refuse or make it difficult for consumers to transfer to a different supplier.
    Ofcom actively monitors all communications providers and the complaints it receives about them. It takes action if it finds evidence that a breach of the rules has taken place.
    Ofcom opened an investigation programme when it introduced new rules to protect consumers from mis-selling and slamming in 2005 and took enforcement action against eight communications providers during this period, including fining one company the maximum 10 per cent of its relevant turnover."
    Think they may be getting some post from me as well :mad:

    these are all the complaints I made to OFCOM last week and again early this am.

    the investigation they talk about could take forever though their posting of the information is a warning to " you know who " note the result of the 8 investigations so far.

    I am now compiling a report for other avenues as OFCOM do not really have the teeth they should have. This morning they advised me that the road to go down was to go to CISAS as OFTEL no use when someone not a member; and it takes 12 weeks to have CISAS look at it.

    I told him that was not good enough and I would examine other avenues including the courts to see if this company can be brought to adhere to proper business practices.

    the more pressure the better, I say.

    The offcom action is welcome but don't expect it to happen quickly or to resolve your issues with redten.
    There is a lot of bleating on this site about the dreadful way that redten have treated everybody since they decided to abandon BT Wholesale but how many of you have actually written to both redten and clode finance to complain and sent letters by recorded delivery?
    Clode are the secret to resolving this. They have already paid redten all of the money we borrowed from them and they are the ones who stand to lose their shirts if redten don't deliver. If even 50% of redten customers sent recorded delivery letters of complaint to clode, reminding them that under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, they are joint liable for delivery of the contracted service then they will have to take action. For a start they will have to reply to each and every letter, this will cost them time and money. They will also have to follow up our complaints with Redten, this will also cost them time and money, probably the most valuable time they have, directors time. Since we know that we are right, that we took out a contract for the delivery of unlimited broadband, subject to their published fair use policy which did not include unilateral capping with automatic speed throttling, they cannot fail to realise that redten are in an undefendable position and will have only two options, force redten to restore our contracted service or release us from our contracts and sue redten for their lost income.
    If you haven't done it yet....get on and write the letters, one to redten and one to clode.
  • Did OFCOM say why we must not talk about deadten?

    Well said Safetyguy --if people dont write to clode and complain and state that redten have breached their contract, they will have difficulty getting their money back.

    If people need to check this information telephone consumer direct and they will receive clear advice and help.

    Just written a really long rant email to Clode and Redten. I really feel ignored and absoluetly let down, not only by Redten but by Clode. I would have been happy with a call to let me know what is happening, but as I have not received that I have no other option.

    A real shame.

    Don't waste your time with emails. Put it into letters & send them recorded delivery.
