    So, if we go over the 5GB in one month, we are throttled on a slow speed ad infinitum?

    doesn't sound right

    Can't be bothered doing the maths, but if you go over 5GB in a month on 10kbps that would be impressive!!!

    I'm guessing that anything above 5GB Redten have to pay the difference? That's a shame if everyone had done that...

    seems that way!

    i just had a thought what if redten are trying to stop us contcating them by email etc by restricting us to slow speeds? surely now the 5gb has been reset normal speed should resume???

    njp keep saying its redten thats doing it, maybe thats why to stop us emailing them! (phones are easy they jus hang up or dont bother answering)
  • Well back on today at after 2pm --supposed to be this morning. Not sure if this is a new month or a restoration of unlimited since no-one tells you anything in writing.

    However fact remains they have breached substantially the contract, a view supported by consumer direct. Very helpful people.

    Our claim is against cloderetailfinance who are indemnified against redten bailing out.

    If redten fail to provide contract then cloderetailfinance are liable to refund our debt by cancelling remainder of payment arrangements.

    Clodefinance should cancel the remaining portion of the contract and seek their money from redten.

    Some of us have advised them of this.

    The money paid over was for the broadband service especially the early joiners anyway as the documents show this.

    The terms of the contract are unfair in a number of parts.

    The PC was a clear inducement.

    You did not get a pc as part of the package.
    You got a free PC if you agreed to sign up for broadband at 19.99 for 3 years.

    I strongly suspect that redten will bail out before they publish their accounts in May. --just like happened at watford. However that will be clodes problem --not ours.

    good to be back --just paid my bills etc.

    Ofcom are investigating Redten. Just been on the phone with them.

    At last we may get a Regulator to do its job. They are concerned that the dont belong to otelo or CISAS. Otelo said we are not allowed to comment about redten please ring Ofcom for an update.

    Ofcom said they posted some kind of update on their website. About ISP's not being a member of otelo or CISAS she mentioned a ADR?

    I asked her to look at this thread.

    She said they have been. So Have NJP and Clode.

    just spoke to BT again about my order. Doing a "internal home move" is the only way to get BT based broadband without a MAC code if your forced to move from BT to Virgin. It took some time but the nice lady sorted it. I've done this before she quoted. Anyway, if it works fantastic. If it dont I'm off to virgin.

    So you switched from BT to Virgin? not from redten to virgin, right?
    I just rang them and they said that nothing they can do as I'm with another provider currently.

    :(

    Hey Mr Deadten, your days are numbered!

    "Ofcom is also extending its investigation into mis-selling in the fixed line market. The investigation covers all types of mis-selling including:
    • slamming, where a consumer is switched to another provider without their knowledge;
    • when communications providers pass themselves off as other companies;
    • when communications providers fail to provide important information to consumers, for example, the minimum contract duration or details of early termination fees; and
    • when communications providers refuse or make it difficult for consumers to transfer to a different supplier.
    Ofcom actively monitors all communications providers and the complaints it receives about them. It takes action if it finds evidence that a breach of the rules has taken place.
    Ofcom opened an investigation programme when it introduced new rules to protect consumers from mis-selling and slamming in 2005 and took enforcement action against eight communications providers during this period, including fining one company the maximum 10 per cent of its relevant turnover."
    Think they may be getting some post from me as well :mad:
