Fortunately I'm still not connected to NJP, due to the issues with me taking the BT MAC code and trying to sign up with O2. I'm just waiting for my line to be manually de-tagged, after which I will need no MAC code and will be able to sign up with whomever I choose :j
Only thing I need to sort now is cancelling the Clode agreement somehow, which as many of you will testify is proving easier said than done.....0 -
It's perhaps stating the obvious, because all us Redten customer KNOW that the PC was advertised as FREE - no matter what Mr Gulzar is now trying to wriggle out of. But have a look at the banner at the top of this forum. OK, 'worth' may be spelled incorrectly, but 'FREE' isn't. Strange if Martin also misunderstood what Redten were offering.0

i signed up in december 2007 looks like a free pc to me
I've looked at this today and used my mac code on this page. I have ordered BT option three with the MAC code stated on this page.
I did enter my RBB no and Postcode.
BT Accpted my order.
Get your Mac from https://www.redteninternet.com/support/vieworder.aspx
Type in the details and it shows your mac that you gave when you migrated to redten when you joined up.
Like I said BT accepted my order and I'm getting a Homehub and Phone.0 -

Doesn't show my MAC as they never completed my order so it says it's still processing even though they have cancelled the service.0 -

Thanks for this dafftbint - but am I understanding you correctly? - are you saying the MAC I used when I first moved to Redten will still be valid to move away from them? I've never really understood this - is our MAC code fixed then?0 -
Im a little confused too - i though MAC's were time limited - clarification would be good as if this is valid, Im off.0

Scrub that BT called to say the order failed!
They are now doing a "internal home move" for me and its now accpepted.
THE WORDS YOU NEED TO REMIND THEM ARE
"INTERNAL HOME MOVE"0 -
Daftbint,
You might find that they accepted the MAC code as it appeared to be like a mac code (ie 17 digits long) - when they try to activate your service, the MAC will fail im afraid.
I looked at the MAC code here and the one supplied from the BT walled garden page - they were different. I would also think that the MAC code here is only active for 30 days from its first issue - so I wouldnt hold your breath.
I've went to talk talk - should be up and running by the 25th april and does not need a mac code! It only works out at about £2 a month more than what I am paying BT for line rental.
40 GB download limit which shouldnt really be a problem as I dont think I have ever downloaded that much.
Thanks for the link to the order page though - I have PDF'd this and will use it as supporting information in my battle with clode to scrap their account!0 -

Thanks for reminding me about this 'Order Tracking' page, colderuk. I now have a nice hard copy proof of the fact that my PC was FREE - from Redten's own website.
I can only think that Mr Gulzar 'misspoke' when he was quoted in Computer Active? Or perhaps he was just being 'economical with the truth'? Then again, I'm sure there's another way of saying what he was doing? A short word beginning with 'l' comes to mind.0
