I have just read the following in Computeractive, (issue 264, page 6, 3rd-16th April).
"Internet service provider (ISP) Redten has criticised BT for pulling the plug on its broadband service last month which left customers without an internet service for 10 days.
The ISP ,which provided a computer with some of its packages, said it had asked BT to give it this time to move its services over to another broadband wholesaler,NJP.This has now happened and Redten customers are back on line, but the ISP'S managing director,Baber Gulzar said BT's actions were unfair on its customers."We are involved in a contractual dispute with BT and were in the process of negotiating a move to NJP and asked it for time to do this:BT should not have involved the customers in our dispute",he said.
He agreed that BT claims Redten owes it money but said while it is prepared to negotiate, the matter is more complex.BT said it had given Redten a month's notice.NJP,which owns ISP's including fast4net,said that Redten pays for it's lines in advance. This means it foresees no problems continuing to provde it with broadband.
However, after last month many Redten customers who signed up for one of the packages offering a computer are unclear about their legal standing.
Mr.Gulzar told us these customers were not contracted to the broadband service, but would have to pay for their computer."There is a misunderstanding that the computers are free. They are not - the three year
finance deal people sign up for is to pay for a computer and the broadband is effectively free",he said.0 -
I cant get online!!!!
Hope Redten crash and burn today....0 -

Utter BS Mr Gulzar - and I dont care if you are reading this. I signed up to Redtens offer of 19.99 broadband with a FREE PC. I have the invoice to PROVE the PC was free and I even have a screen print of you ADVERTISING the PC as free. I signed up in November 2006 before you changed your t&c.
Think again Mr Millionaire.0 -
anyone else having connection problems???0

I see the problem here, we're talking in English whilst he's speaking Bolox,
No wonder theres a few minor misunderstandings about terms such as 'unlimited', 'free', 'between 18.00-23.00hrs only', and of course the ever misused 'Customer Service'
How can they continue to get away with this sort of bulls**t?
Sort it out Redten, you ought to hang your heads in shame, you must be the only people in the country who when asked what you do for a living claim you're estate agents to make yourselves look better.0 -

the misunderstanding was to believe that customers are gonna lie down and take this rubbish. according to the redten website the other night it said they had run out of FREE pc's and in the background a pic and a caption that says FREE pc worth £500 with 8Mb* broadband
Note the words FREE and PC0 -

Seems to me that the only person who is under any misunderstanding is Mr Gulzar, if he thinks anyone will believe what he says. He should read his own/Redten's advertising STILL available on the Redten website!!!!
Amongst other things, it still says:
"Overview
Sign up to our Desktop PC Package and we’ll not only connect you up to super-fast 8Mb* broadband with unlimited** internet downloads, but we’ll also throw in an Intel Pentium 4 desktop PC with a 19” widescreen monitor, as well as a host of extras to get you started. We’ll even configure the PC so it arrives ready to connect to the internet and cover it with a comprehensive 3-year warranty and 365-day telephone technical support."
A computer that's 'thrown into' a package, isn't something I'm paying for, in my language.0
