I also spent 6 days (decided not to use internet for couple of days) carefully using the internet, even decided not to download the new java update (memories of when I was on a modem and not doing updates!!). But alas apparently normal websites and msn equals 0.5GB a day who would have thought it?? I am now on 5.7Gb and no matter what time of day it is I am getting terrible speeds (would post them here but suprise suprise all the speed test sites aren't working no more!!).
I am also wondering if at midnight tonight all our counters will be reset to 0.00GB ....... I know what I would put money on!!!!

Well, considering Redten assured us we would have 15gb limit by today (or end of last week) then I am not holding my breath.

    Scandalous really.

Tell you what is scary, im REALLY restricting intenet use and I have still used half my allowed bandwidth in 10 days.

I was finding I was hitting my calculated 5Gig without doing anything - to fix it I have altered my Netgear to drop the connection when not using it. Otherwise port scanning software etc on the Net create unwanted incoming traffic which eats at your bandwith.

Trying to run speedtests using speedguide.net, it says adsl will take 1-8 seconds, dial-up 39-73 seconds.
I'm 10 minutes in and it still hasn't finished!!!!

I had the same problem over the weekend. Try the Myspeed test at http://myspeed.visualware.com/ instead.

lol if an internet company told you that and you on a adsl line thats only upgraded to take 8meg then theres no way in hell you will get 8meg its impossible to get the full 8meg as it has to take some of that for certain data and stuff on your line to make it all work lol thats before you get your line speed !!! so they good at selling internet to people when they dont even know what they are even selling obviously and by saying such things they are in fact maybe not intentionaly missleading you !!
