surely the £20 a month of free software more than makes up for not getting the Vista upgrade.

:D
I sincerely hope that was an attempt at sarcasm or you work for RT?
RT wouldn't honour the Vista upgrade for me and for many other people alike, £20 of 'FREE' software, from a defunct company, that's 'FREE' to anyone who visits their site anyway, subject to postage costs.... I don't think so.

Hmmmm Do you by any chance sell 'Windows' ? ;)

:j Free at last :j

• paul at redten just come up with a new one when i called, kept saying i cant hear you and hung up again

This has happened to me 3 times when talking to people on the redten broadband support number. Now, I start out every conversation with redten by saying that I know about this stupid tactic so please don't do it... so they just hang up now instead of pretending they can't hear me

• Hi All,

Just signed up here after reading this thread.

I'm another peeved RT customer, payng for 8Mb unlimited internet. Gone over impposed 5GB limit and now getting <5Kb and barely functioning EMail.

I don't really know where we stand with regards to our contract with RT/Clode but what do you all think of emailing BBC Watchdog? I'm Sure if we all send them a mail they would be glad to at least try to help us.

I think the only way round this or out of it is if we all put pressure on RT.

Also if there are any law students etc reading. Is there any way we can take RT to court as a whole. By which i mean get somone to represent all RT customers but in a single hearing or whatever you call it?...

Anyway, let me know your thoughts.

Cheers.
Rob.

A lot of these things have been talked about rob, but expect this post to be deleted as MSE are being funny !!!!!!s about mentioning legal action...

People have been in touch with watchdog, ofcom, trading standards, cunsumer direct, etc
• I just wish I had a connection of some sort. Since being cut off I appear to be one of the unlucky (lucky) few who have not been transferred to NJP. Tried to contact RT, to know avail, even sent them my MAC code by email, courtesy of a kind lady at BT and still no connection.
Clode do not want to know - how many more out there are in my position?

I've posted my recorded delivery letters to RT/Clode, here's an extract detailing their failings -

·As far as I can see there has been a clear breach of contract by not providing - quote “unlimited internet downloads.” The fair usage agreement specifies “Outside of peak hours, no restrictions apply.” I am now permanently held back at a speed of 40kb.

·In any case why was I not warned this was about to happen? Again this is detailed in the fair usage agreement – “If you are affected, we will contact you by email to let you know that your usage at peak hours is excessive and is affecting other customers.” I have received no such warning either by post or e-mail.

·You have breached the Communications Act 2003 clause 9.3 which states

Where the Communications Provider intends to modify a condition in a
contract with a Consumer which is likely to be of material detriment to
the Consumer, the Communications Provider shall:

(a) provide the Consumer with at least one month’s notice of its
intention detailing the proposed modification; and

(b) inform the Consumer of the ability to terminate the contract
without penalty if the proposed modification is not acceptable to
the Consumer.

·I have also been advised that you are in breach of the Consumer Credit Act 1975, section 75 and the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982.

·The advertised e-mail support via care@redteninternet.com is none existent I have never received a reply from this so called support service.

·The ticket system of complaint via the NJP portal now appears to have conveniently disappeared from the site. I raised the 5GB cap problem as an issue and was advised to read the response in the none existent ticket.

Not sure what response I'll get but its a start.
