I spoke to both Redten and Clode today and neither had any intention of doing the right thing. They both pleaded ignorance. I'm giving them until next Friday to do what's reasonable - either reinstate unstricted broadband or release me penalty free. If that is not forthcoming, I will start the forementioned proceedings.

It occurred to me though, if we write to them quoting all the relevant acts and breaches of contract etc, and give them say 10 days to rectify the matter or we'll take the matter further - what do we do if they do nothing?

i had a meeting with citizens advice and they told me i had good cause to get them to terminate my agreement for breaching contract for one and not providing satisfactory services. i have given them 7 days to respond. if that doesnt work citizens advice have said they will contact them on my behalf, finally i fully intend on fighting this all the way through the small claims court if necessary

takt them to small claims court do a search on free legal aid calculator and it will tell you if you have to pay for the legal aid or if you on low income if not but remember they have breached all said conditions and even if you are liable to legal costs i think youll pay very little if nothing at all as they have to pay costs if they loose and i think they "will" loose just on legal side of breach of the conditions of the contract!!! and ill supply addresses in a min the i would send the letters too !!! make shure they recorded delivery and the normal time period to give them on responding to and complying to your request would be 14 days thats seen as the fairest amount of timein legal eyes!!

I tried all day to get through to redten and never got through once.
Phoned OFCOM again on the off chance that if i got someone else they might be able to help explained Redten had cancelled my account and i haven't paid them anything yet they are still providing me with broadband and won't give me my MAC code he was honest and said the only advise to give me other than to write them a letter or see about starting legal proceedings
Spoke to clode asked as they helped get my account cancelled could they help and would they also send me a letter stating that the account was cancelled they said it's not their policy to written confirmation of accounts being cancelled

Think my only option now is to cancel my phoneline then sign up for a new number.

If you ask them to provide a mac code in writing and they fail to provide one you then call BT wholesale and they will arrange for a mac and the tag to be taken off your line. You then make a complaint to OFT for redten breaching the communications act as amended for failing to provide a mac on request within 5 days.

    Hello everyone,

Finally I've managed to be able to get on here and post :)
I've been following with ever increasing interest most threads on the diabolical treatment dished out to us all from RT/Clode/NJP/BT etc since that fateful day.

I originally got a MAC out of BT but didn't end up using it as when I originally spoke to Clode, like many others were told Clode would charge me £12 per missed payment and then pursue me through the courts for none payment and in turn stuff up my credit rating for defaulting on the agreement.

Based purely on that I thought it best to try and ride the storm. I then like most got re-connected on the 18th and due to the restrictions (5Gb cap) placed on the line have tried my hardest not to use the bandwidth else like many others my line will be throttled to less than Dialup speeds.

I'm in an unfortunate position in that I just don't have the time to be able to spend hours hanging on a phone waiting to be cut off again by those bloody RT muppets and am now unsure if I should be pursing for a get out of this crap service via letter.

Many thanks for the help offered by some forum posters (you know who you are)

I'm currenly receiving over 6.5Mb/s according to Speedtest but that said it is a VERY unreliable and I often get time outs!

My biggest issue is Stateside 384 ping times as I'm part of a gaming Clan based in San Francisco,
so I'm currently unable to use this replacement NJP service as I originally intended.
I was getting sub 40's previously

Any suggestions as to who I should be directing complaint letters to and requesting a release from this wholely unacceptable service and treatment would be greatly apprieciated.

Sorry for the long post but I've not been able to post previously

  • i think the more people that actually write to REDTEN stating they have provided a less than satisfactory service the better, i have spent around 4 hours per day trying to sort this out via fone to redten alone. i believe the only way to get through to them now is to put it in writing. they have had more than enough time to sort this out and i for one like many others are fed up with the constant excuses, fobbing off and untruths. i dont know if the letter i have written is how someone from citizens advice would word it but i think i get my point across and state relevant facts and consumer acts. hopefully it will do the job if not i will keep fighting. if anyone wants a look send me a message and i will try send a copy.
  • Its going to be very intresting to see how clode respond next week and if they respond in time and then what happens

Am really in 2 minds here as to whether to post the director and the only shareholders home address - after all it is public info anyone can buy

And I really think we should all write to the director and the shareholder at their home (in addition to writing official letters to official address).

Maybe then they'd understand the suffering their causing.

If that doesnt work I think maybe a call to their local newspapers.

What do you guys think? Shall I post their home addresses?
  • right i've decided I'm not going to disclose or share the directors and the shareholders home addresses with anyone. In fact I've just deleted them from my pc. I just feel on balance its wrong to publish someones home address - even if that someone may have inconvenienced us all!
