i placed my order with redten on the 23 11 2006
i did it over the phone talking to a real person so i dont know if that has speed things up or not. but the proof will be in the pudding when i actually recive it.
talk is cheap after all
i have serched many forums looking for anyone that has received there pc but as yet i havent found any that have. so they must be sending them out in one big hit.
what i would like to know is they said the first 10.000 get a 19" moniter instead of a 17" how do you know if you are one of the 10.000 ?0 -

You get a pc with a 19" monitor!
Sorry, bad joke, seriously tho, never saw that mentioned before? Maybe they change the website to say 17" once 10,000 have been sold? I will be very p****d off if mine turns up with a 17" as it quite clearly said 19" when I ordered!
I somehow doubt that 10,000 will sign up judging by the reaction on here, most people don't seem to be bothering cos either the pc isn't of high enough spec or the fact that broadband will become ridiculously cheap in the 3 year contract.0 -
Switched off my PC and unplugged the modem/router for a day or so as I had some workmen around and they needed the space.
When I replugged everything the router no longer worked. I went through the instruction manual (again) and did everything the same as when I originally set it up, but to no avail.
So I rang tech support.
Oh dear.
I spent more on the tech support number last night than I've spent on my phone bill in the last 6 weeks.
His recommendations included: unplugging my phone from the line downstairs (despite it never having been a problem in the 5 or so years I've had broadband), rebooting (of course), switching the modem off and on again, and typing in the IP address of the router into the browser several times in succession. If it didn't work just now, what will retyping it do?
The support chap (who was very pleasant, it has to be said) said that he was going to have to escalate this and someone more senior would contact me in the next 48 hours.
So I plugged in my old modem and everything worked fine.
The moral: take the kit (half-decent spec), use the broadband (so far reliable) but don't expect anything from tech support, except a bigger phone bill...0 -
Finally received something from Redten today. A Wireless ADSL router (Redten branded 11G ADSL 2/2+ Router), and a USB WiFi dongle (Microcon WiFi 11g)
Things are looking promising nowTHE FUTURE IS BRIGHT0 -
ok update my redten connnection is now operational after a few disconections i seem to be getting a stable 4.5 meg was getting just under 1 meg before the main reason for the disconection seemed to be the telephone extention line that i was using after changing it things got stable and speed went from 1.5 meg to the 4.5 meg just by changing the cable.
no word on the pc yet0 -

I just rang Redten and the nice Indian lady was not able to tell me a delivery date for the PC, but she did give me another number to ring.
0871 285 9436 if anyone else wants to check.
I was informed on this number that the PC left the warehouse on its way to me today, via Citylink. I am told it will arrive tomorrow.THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT0 -
In other news, Redten have made vast improvements to the web portal. It now has proper sections for news, sport, shopping, mail, my account and support.
The only link not working (says coming soon) is the webspace link.
Seems to be all coming together at last.THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT0 -
