are we entiteld to see what thier contract and terms were with redten themselves were they must have had to make one with them on the basis they paid redten the money on our behalf???0

I have asked Clode in writing how much they have paid to redten for my broad band service and in what manner.
They have til friday to reply.
I have informed them both that they are in breach of the contract with me as have made substantive change to that contract which then allows me to withdraw if they do not re-institute those orginal terms of unlimited and free upgrade to 24 speed. Most of our lines will be enabled this year for 24.
These were the two reasons I signed with redten and therefore if they are not restored they are in substantive breach allowing me to walk away.0 -
clode only care that an internet connection in itself is there not what it is and how its performing is my guess i would love to know what thier contractual terms with redten over what they have paid for and the wording they have had in thier contracts with them and not the ones held to us !!!
Clode will want to know if the service we are paying for is being provided. They are jointly liable with Redten if the service/goods we are paying for on the agreement changes. I would consider Redten changing from unlimited to 5gb cap which seems to be rigorously enforced to be a BIG change in the service provided.0 -
I think that maybe the 11th may be the option for getting a MAC code and thus claiming back the line.
This is my prime concern as I hate not being able to control the line. I just want to be with another provider - I dont care about keeing on paying clode as I see it as being my own stuip fault for entering into such a suspect payment agreement in the first place.
We'll see what transpires on the 11th...0 -
RESULT!!!
I would like to announce that I am now 100% totally free of ANY contract from Redten/NJP/Clode!
I have my MAC code and will be transferring to another provider today, I am also able to KEEP my free pc!
Hopefully this will allow others to follow, my case is slightly special in that I haven't yet been transferred but at the end of the day they said the reason they are allowing me to leave without any penalty is because they can no longer offer me what I signed up to.
So, how did I do it?
I have put alot of pressure on Redten for the last 2 weeks, this has resulted in nothing as far as I can see as I have still not been transferred. I have started in the last week to put alot of pressure on Clode, they will most likely try to fob you off with the line "talk to Redten". You have to tell them that this is unnacceptable as they are joint liable for the service. I sent them e-mails which were not answered so I phoned to ask where the replies were. I've now started phoning them roughly every 12 hours. I told them yesterday that they needed to take action and I would phone back this morning for the result, I was told that they had got no-where. I said that I would keep phoning every 12 hours to check their progress. We agreed that the next course of action would be for Clode to contact Redten at 2pm, I said I would then phone back at 4pm so see how they'd got on.
This continual pressure has lead them to talk to Redten about my case.
Redten have agreed that they can no longer offer me the service I am entitled to so they have asked Clode to cancel the agreement and that I can leave without penalty.
Hopefully you'll see from this that it is the continual pressure put on these companies which forces them to take action. I can't say that I'm proud of the way I have spoken to some people along the way but at the end of the day they should have said yes, we'll contact Redten in the first place.
So be direct and challenging but not rude.
Hope this helps some of you out there, I will of course be around for any support I can offer.
Update: (06/04/08)
Redten have provided me with some extra info with my case since disconnection. They have informed me that there were technical difficulties transferring my line over and it would've been more costly to transfer my line to NJP than the rest of my contract was worth (approx £440).
My first bit of advice for everyone is to phone Clode, tell them that someone has been able to leave due to the service on offer not being what was agreed to in the contract. Ask them to contact Redten and then wait 24 hours for the result. I would hope that we should all get the same result but obviously can't guarentee that. Should you decide to take this further then the fact that they've done it for one customer should put them in a position where they should do it for all customers. Only difference between my account and your's is that mine has yet to be transferred to NJP, which makes no difference to whether or not they should cancel or not. There's no reason why I couldn't have been transferred to NJP so it must be because the service isn't the same. The other difference is how much I have badgered them into doing something. Clode said that Redten were well aware of my name as I have spoken to them so many times, again this shouldn't make any difference to their decision as the rest of the facts remain the same.0 -

i feel a bit like this, i should have remembered
"if something seems too good to be true - it usually is"
but still why should we get so screwed to the wall - it's just wrong
the history of redten's group of companies reads like manual of how th keep getting away with it - they must be taken down0 -
congrats benjie
and just think it only cost you 700 quid in phone calls and a fortnight off work
lets hope you've opened the floodgates0 -
did anyone ever use their webspace to put up a site - if so is it still running
i did one myself for a while but i let the domain name lapse so i can't tell
I started uploading a site to the Redten server last January, but quickly found that I was restricted to uploading just 100 files. Not enough for anything but the smallest of websites, so I deleted and went elsewhere.THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT0 -
Benjimoron i am in the same position except they won't give me my MAC code i have emailed them everyday and still getting nothing even though i don't have an account,i am paying nothing they want to keep onto my MAC and give me free internet which doesn't make sense.0
