I have used these numbers for a while now and they work well.
I use the ones at

Well, I tried using Simplyphone using Tmob's 200 free xnet package and calling the US @ 9pm Uk time. Several days later I called T-mobile's online billing to see how my bill has moved.....and it had not but free minutes dropped so it works and works well.0

3-Mobile charge for this service. I am on a monthly price plan with 3-mobile and they charge 25p. I asked them to justify it as I do have 750mins any network anytime and they said 'this number is personal number service and is not a normal network'. So for those skint users who like me have opted for the cheapo 3-mobile service - there are probably a lot of cheaper ways to make international calls. Advice to anyone looking at tariffs at the mo - AVOID 3 MOBILE (many reasons, not just this one)0

I tried Simply-fone to call my husband on his mobile in Portugal but it didn't work. We are both with Orange and both have cross network all-inclusive minutes. The reason given by Simply-fone was that my husbands mobile number must have originally been a vodafone number (which it was, he kept his mb no: when he moved to Orange) and this makes it not workable!
I therefore rang up Orange to find out exactly how much it was costing us to call each other on our mobiles (to prepare myself for the pending huge bill!)
and while I was on the phone I was offered £5 free to spend on international calls!! Some sort of promotion with Orange pay monthly customers ...so annoyed that Simply-fone didn't work for me but at least I got something!!

Be careful.
Before u use the £5 to call number in portugal ask them what they actually charge for that call
Because if u go overthe £5 [likely] u may incur heavy charges.
By the way if simply-fone couldnt help u, its presumably as u were calling a UK mobile abroad.
This means:
1. yr husband will incur massive 'roaming' charges when called in Portugal
2. you are not using up the £5.00 because even thogh you're calling his mob abroad - u still only pay a UK call! & u probably better off using free minutes or landline etc....0 -

Thanks for the advice, but I did, its 20p per minute to call husband in portugal, it will cost him 30p per minute to recieve my call and a wooping 70p per minute should he call me!!
THis is if we use the £5 or not, these are standard orange call charges to portugal calling a mobile(if that makes sense!)
By the way if simply-fone couldnt help u, its presumably as u were calling a UK mobile abroad.
1/I thought that was the whole point of the deal, being able to call a UK mobile abroad and the system using your free all-inclusive minutes instead of the huge charges quoted above??
2/They didn't say that was the reason, they said it was cause he effectively imported his number from vodafone and they obviously don't want to play ball!! They had one of their engineers check it out and I kinda believe it because my husband got a call the morning I ask them to investigate why if didn't work, and they put the phone down on him. He redialled the number
to see who it was, and it was simplyfone.
This means:
1. yr husband will incur massive 'roaming' charges when called in Portugal
2. you are not using up the £5.00 because even thogh you're calling his mob abroad - u still only pay a UK call! & u probably better off using free minutes or landline etc....
I can't use free minutes as calls to mobile abroad don't qualify for free minutes hence I was tying to use SimplyFone..
Landline...I will check that out, I thought it was cheaper to call from your mobile to another mobile.
Thanks in advance for the advice, this whole phone stuff is great but complicated...and now my V4 dialller has just arrived so I will have to engage brain to get that sorted.
My life has certainly changed since I surf'd onto MARTIN LEWIS!!0 -

Used this number on singlepoint (vodafone) and they charge 35p a minute for calls to the simply-fone number. They classify this number as personal number service. got a charge of £5.44 on my wifes mobile and god knows how much on mine as singlepoint have a lag time of 3 days before charge appear of their system!! just spoke for nearly 20 mins yday oops!!.
my friend has been charged on his 3G service. I have made calls from my Orange phone as well but have been unable to find out how much it will be setting me back by!! as they have problems with their billing system. hope that ones free.
anyone check on their orange phone let me know
....25/02/2005
My Orange bills come and having spoken for an hour using simplyfone I find that it is all included in the free minutes..phew!!! what a relief.
Also though Singlepoint did charge me(received that bill as well) I spoke to them on 662453 and the lady at the other end could not make out hy it was charged and has credited me the £5.44.
so yippeee Oange, Vodafone (direct as well as singlepoint) works on this number. will let u guys know when I get my Tmobile bill:beer::beer::beer:0 -

If you call your husband's UK phone number from yours, that will come from your inclusive minutes and his phone will incur roaming charges, as you have discovered.
One alternative is to get a Portuguese payg simcard (his Orange phone will need to be unlocked to do this) and then use that £5 credit and further calls at 20p/min directly from your phone. If he calls you, call him back as this is less than international call from Portugal mobile.
I checked the Simply-fone site and it does not access Portugal mobiles, so you should use it to ring him on a convenient landline.
S-F will ring Orange numbers but not Vodafone (but there's little point usually); that's probably why they checked for you.
To udydudy as well, Orange phones will ring the Simply-fone number from included minutes0
