  • Off the back of this thread I thought I'd give sky a call and see what they would do for me as we are currently paying a frightening amount to them! We currently pay approx £12 for BT line rental and £70 for a middle sky package with sky+ HD box, top broadband package, HD, sky sports, MUTV and there's usually about £2 of phone calls per month included in that, so that's £82 a month - eek! I said I was thinking of going to virgin and they offered me half price TV for 6 months as long as I moved the phone line to them, bringing the total cost down to £55 per month which is a lot more reasonable. They also said to ring back in 6 months and they'd see what they can do then for me.

I'm really happy with the outcome so a big thumbs up and thank you to everyone on this thread :)

I phoned as at the end of 12 months free HD, was offered £12.50 discount. I agreed, but asked to remove HD as otherwise it would only be a saving of £2.50.

I was told this wasn't possible. So have had to cancel HD and wait another month to get the next discount.
  • I bought freesat + box which doesn't cost me anything after spending £250 for the box about 9 months ago when I left sky. It is brilliant I was with sky for about 10 years and they keep trying to get me to go back. Last week they offered me half price for 6 months no tie in and £50 M&S vouchers. I also changed my broadband from sky to plusnet as it was the cheapest at the time and now just changed it and my phone line to talktalk as recommended in Martins latest email:money:

Poor sky they ring me about once every 2 months I have said I won't go back but I don't think they believe me;)

    Freesat+ is brilliant:T

I rang Sky just under a month ago and made out I wanted to cancel.

They offered me 25% off my bill for the next 12 months, with no additional tie ins - I can still change packages etc within that time period.

Not bad for a quick phone call ;)

I had the same problem, i was charged four times at £41 and each time i phoned them they said they would need to send out an engineer with a charge, not sure how much it was but i refused.
This week i phoned on the back of this thread and told them i wanted to cancel, when they asked why i said need to save money and told them about the charges so she offered me 6 months half price package and a free engineer.
The engineer cam out on thursday and found we had a loose wire which he fixed, i then phoned sky to tell them it had been sorted and they have credited me with all the extra charges, a total of £160.
    Hope this helps.
  • Just phoned Sky. Im only on the basic £24.50/month package but thought id give it a go. Just been offered half price for 6 months :-) so well worth a 5 min phone call

Just to say it's worthwhile holding out if they don't initially offer you the 1/2 price deal - I called up a month ago to cancel as my half price for the year HD deal was ending - they only offered 25% off so I said no, just to go ahead and cancel. The contract ended officially yesterday and got a call today to offer 50% off for a year and no tie in so can alter the packages and leave at any time. Didn't get the half price HD but sky world, so well worth it
