I had my darling 19 month old nephew and teen niece visit today with their mum and my mum and since they left at 7.30 pm I have been searching everywhere for my Sky+ remote. Neither of them have it and I have also had my neighbour helping me search for ir. I have been watching this thread and wondered wether to tell Sky its lost, but I know I won't get a free replacement as I don't have their extended warranty thingy. I have looked at the price at Argos and Tesco and the Sky+ remote is more than I thought it would be, plus reviews mention they don't function as well as the ones from Sky directly. I don't know wether to use this to threaten to cancel and get a better deal (too cheeky for just a remote replacement) tho sky + box plays up now and then but my tv does not have freeview and am way too indecisive to choose a new tv lol!!

i rang the other day as my remote was playing up, they told me they no longer sell them as you can get them form argos and supermarkets. so no freebie for me.

Car boot sale, going price for a non HD sky box appears to be less than £5, with new style remote.

I've only recently started subscribing to sky, so will be ringing them in a few months time to see if they can offer me anything. Virgin were always reducing my bills when I did so, so shall see what happens.

Well that didn't go too well lol!!! Atm have 5 pack +sports and 1/2 price hd subsciption which is about to run out paying £43 pm. Been with them for 8 years.
Wanted multiroom, 2nd hd box and was prepared to switch to their broadband and phone if it facilitated a good deal. Also told him was either going to go with the humax hd boxes and leave sky or upgrade with them
Got absolutely nothing from him!!! : £199 for 2nd hd box
    £10.25 for 2nd hd subscription!!
    £10.25 for multiroom
Stopped him there before even got to broadband and phone and queried any discount for long term customer....no was the reply!!!
That signalled the red mist for me and told him just put me through to cancellations as i know for a fact there are deals available. Told me where did u read this the financial times??? lol Didn't say this site and told him none of his business (must be something in there about haggling)
Anyway final payment comes out 3rd march and they've just lost out on approx £70 a month .
Take it I will have a month from now before the switch off due to notice period??
My plans are wait for phonecall from retentions or if no decent offer wait until account cancelled then sign back up as a "new" customer after a week of no sky in my wife's name.
    Any thoughts please??

i did a similar thing, paying £43 a month on sky hd, and multiroom and they offered me nothing except get rid of hd that would save me £10 something, yeah great, no phone calls from sky retentions from me!!! so you may be unlucky.... can still use freestate from the sky box cant i.....

anyone know if there is a rule about signing up again in a few months if freesat doesnt work out?
Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!
  • I have finally moved to Virgin, Now have Virgin phone, broardband and full TV package (including sports Movies and HD), total saving in year one will be £732. Fitted today very neatly by a nice chap who used my existing cable so no drilling etc.
Two minor issues there is no RF out or in on the V+ box so need to spend £30 ish on a scart to RF converter to watch this in another room. Think I need a different Magic eye for the other room as well but not sure so will try the old one first.
Navigating through the channels is not as intuative as Sky (but then I have been using Sky for over 15 years lol)
3.995kWP SSW facing. Commissioned 7 July 2011. 24 degree pitch + Solar Immersion installed May 2013, after two Solar Immersion lasting just over the guarantee period replaced with Solic 200... no problems since
