Sky offer to me (existing Customer)

I've read the posts on here before re Sky deals. I would like to try this out. but am thinking that if I say I want to cancel as I can't afford it they will remind me that I also have my phone and broadband with them (which will be more expensive separately). I am interested to read on here that Sky now only use the standard and HD boxes. I have Sky + which I had free about 3 years ago and it is playing up a bit and sometimes failing to record, this has happened before and Sky told me to do a system rebuild. At the mo I don't have a HD tv so don't have Freeview to fall back on if Sky did accept my cancellation (and also of my phone and broadband) and don't want to pay for a new box or repair and call-out. I also live in a flat so even tho the call would be to sky as well as the contract, an outside contractor would call to repair or reinstall a new box.0

Have something planned in your head or written down to get around anything they may come up with with phone line and broadband.
Only any good if your not in a contract with them obviously.
Something like im going to get rid of my phone line and just use a dongle...just going to have freeview...being given a recordable box......u know that kind of thing.
Think you may get on better if you say u are going to leave rather than if they can save u any money. (u can always ring back and change ur mind).

just plucked up courage to call Sky, after 18 years or so with them and never getting offered anything a very very nice man in Cancellations offered us 1/2 price on our sky package ( the full sports/movies thing) for 6 mths - Yippee...if you want to have a go..quote the current Virgin offer of 6mths 1/2 price cos I think this is what they are having to match. oh and go straight to cancellations!:beer:0

Just a thought as well ive seen a few boxes in the run up to xmas on freecycle from people who have changed to HD. I was sure they took them with them at upgrade but it seems they dont always?
You could go for the price reduction then rather than a FREE replacement. If ur out of contract they will replace for free if u threaten to leave because ive had to do it - 3 times over the years.

well done!
if u have accepted 12 months i believe its pointless in trying after six months as they wont budge while ur in a contract.
hope u enjoy the HD!0 -

Excellent op thank you so much they didn't even quibble when I told them Virgin would do me a better deal.
Currently paying £52 a month for six mix and movies , they cut the tv package in half for six months although still have to pay £10 for my HD.
Anyway although I can't fathom how my new bill is £20.25 + £10 for HdMSE- The Glitchhikers guide to the galaxy0 -
