Have just got round to calling sky. Managed to get 25% off TV subs for 12 months, free HD box with free installation and 6 months free HD subs.
Have wanted HD for ages and this deal has persuaded hubby to get HD :j
(Also if I add any extra package (movies/sports) in the next 12 months they will automatically be reduced by the 25% aswell.)
:beer:Trying to regain my comping mojo0 -

Thats good, thats exactly what I am looking for, did you say you were going to cancel or that you were looking at reducing costs?0 -
They called me last night and offered a 65% discount for 3 months on premium packages if I took sports and movies or a 50% discount for just movies. Nice of them to offer but I politely declined.0

I'm looking to upgrade to Sky+HD from normal Sky+. I rang today and, probably wrongly, just openly asked about what they could offer me and I did mention the Virgin deal. I was simply offered their "deals" on the website and no monthly discount. I said I'd leave it and talk to Virgin and the operator said OK. Not what I was looking for!
So what am I doing wrong?0 -

Were you speaking to the cancellations dept? Did you have a quote from the Virgin site or BT Vision? Just try calling back and speaking to someone else:)0 -
I didn't get an option to go through to cancellations - just went straight through on one of the saynoto0870 numbers.
I just quoted the Virgin deal (which isn't actually available in my area but will they check?)
So my opening line is "I'm ringing to cancel because I can get a better deal on HD somewhere else"? I hope they don't call my bluff.0 -
I rang Sky this morning and managed to get 50% off for 6 months so I am VERY pleased!! We already have Sky HD and we have movies and sports so this will save us loads! I have done this previously but not in the last year so thanks to the OP for prompting me to do it!To be in your child's memories tomorrow, be in their life today.0

I got through on a free number too, but the people you come through to don't have the authority to offer deals (I believe). When you get through to someone ask to be transferred to the cancellations department, they are the people to negotiate with.0 -

When I did they offered me 6 months at half price to retain my subscription. However I still cancelled. About a month later I got a letter offering me 12 months half price and £50 m&s voucher. So when we moved into our new place I took up that lovely offer and only pay £11 a month now.
A friend at work then gave me a HD box which I put a 1TB drive in so we are all setup now with a few bargains.
Can you literally just put another hard drive in there? I never thought about that.
On the deals side.. I've been paying just over 50 a month for all packages except for sports, with HD. I've removed the HD for 10 a month savings, but it doesn't come into effect until next month. Do you think they'd give me half price on the price next month if I phoned now? (reducing it to 20 a month?) or would they want me to have full packages (eg sports and hd?)0 -
Just called and managed to get 50% off for 6 months including sports package! No Hd box offer though and guy wasn't helpful even when I told him my box is playing up! Glad with offer as saves me £30 a month. Will try next week for box offer.0
