Virgin are doing some sort of offer. Nowhere near as good as skys but I phoned up just now and got £10 per month off my current package for the next year. I'm pretty happy with the service of virgin, just not the price.

I've been reading this thread daily and thought knowing my luck I would get someone who would say "computer says no" type of thing, plucked up courage and got half price for 6 months and a free sky+ box and free installation ( its a hd box but not with the hd enabled) so quite happy with that..
So big thanks to this forum.
(I also while I was in the mood, I have just come to the end of my phone contract and now have a new phone on the way and line rental is £10 a month cheaper)

So not bad going... just thinking what else can I try?? :)

insurances? Thats what I'm tackling next although I hate changing life/mortgage insurance as theres a million questions :(!

Same as me, no offer given, even after two phone calls. 1st was yesterday evening and told him i was having money difficulties and would there be any offers as didn't really want to cancel. Best he said was to cancel sports so said ok, he then proceeded to cancel with no offers given.
Phoned this morning saying yesterdays person failed to say how much my monthly payments would be, just on the off chance that they would ask why i cancelled sports package. Asked about HD offers and he said none on at present, even though know people on here are getting them. Left at there but will call again this afternoon to see: who knows, 3rd time lucky!!!!

Phoned there for 3rd time and got the offer i was looking: Sky hd box with free installation, only thing she had to do was put sky sports back on package which was fine by me. So more than happy and kind lady said i should ring again after set to cancel sports and they might give me discount on package.

Keep trying everyone, you will get there in the end!!!!

We have just finished having the 6 months half price offer and have decided to try our luck. In the end we have gave a months notice to cancel. Gonna see how long we can last without sky and maybe try joining up as a new customer. Does anyone know how long you need to leave it before you are classed as a new customer?

  • I was only on the basic entertainment pack(no movies and sport) and we were moving to our parents for 2 months so I needed to cancel. When I did they offered me 6 months at half price to retain my subscription. However I still cancelled. About a month later I got a letter offering me 12 months half price and £50 m&s voucher. So when we moved into our new place I took up that lovely offer and only pay £11 a month now.
A friend at work then gave me a HD box which I put a 1TB drive in so we are all setup now with a few bargains.
  • After reading about all your savings decided to try ringing sky and see what i would be offered. First i spoke to a lady i explained that i was wanting to reduce my outgoings she looked at my account and offered me £5 off both my hd and multiroom package i then explained that my hd box was playing up and how much would it cost me to send out an engineer £65. I said that i could not afford this and was woundering what to do so she transferred me to cancellations. Lovely guy who straight away said i was entitled to some offers. He offered me free engineer call out, replacement hd box with 3 months guarantee and 6 months half price tv package. Then he said i could also go for a different offer of brand new hd box with more storage for free but couldnt have half price as well. After much huming an aaring he said that i should take up the 1st offer and ring back in 6months to get the free box and installation. He even put a note on my account so that when i ring back in july the offer is there. Said could i not ring back in a day or two and get free box then but he said if i tried when the adviser tried to put it on my account it would immediately take off my half price. Rather have half price at the mo then new box later on in the year.:rotfl:
