No one has got half price for 12months!
some people have said they did? (one is the quote below)I asked about that when getting my offer (see previous page), but she said it would not be possible since i was getting multiple offers... free HD+ box, 1/2 subscription for 12 months and free installation, i couldn't complain to be honest.
She stated that if you have 1/2 price subscription then you have to renew the contract. I think i could have got the HD box free with no renewal of contract, but i wanted 1/2 price subscription more than the not being locked in.. im not going to move anytime soon.0 -

Typo quite simply. The poster prior to that post stated:Ok, so i currently pay only £22.50 for a middle tier Sky tv pack (standard non-HD digital box). Don't have their phone or BB as its with virgin.
Rang Sky to cancel, and the only offer i got was a free HD box. I told him that virgin do a free HD box anyway and are 1/2 for 6 months on subscription. He said he couldn't do anything about the subscription, and that he couldn't do anything more for me. This really annoyed me as i've been with them for 11 years. Anyway, told him to put go ahead and cancel and he gave me 31 days etc.
So i rang back 15 mins later and spoke to a lady, explaining that im not happy. she asked what i wanted, and i said... Free HD+ box, free installation and 1/2 subscription for 6 months, and she processed that without any problem.
..why couldn't the first chap do the same?!
Anyway, its Saturday and the engineers coming out on Monday! Talk about swift!
Best thing to do if you cant get the deal you want is to call back... dont even wait a few days.. call straight back like i did.. well atleast it worked for me.
Just to confirm, i genuinely was going to cancel and go to virgin, its only this last deal that kept me.0 -

Apologies Kyresa if I am incorrect over thinking some people were getting 12m at 1/2 price, but thought I'd read that in a few posts when i was reading through whole thread late last night.
Anyone who already had HD, have you had any luck getting the 1/2 price for 6m and also £5 off HD sub for 6m??0 -

I just have basic sky, same box for the last 5 years or something, not + or HD or owt. Pay 21.50 per month for entertainment, kid and discovery package. I'm pretty sure I'm not on a good deal, but have no idea what I should realistically 'ask' for. At the mo, I cant afford to pay any more on the monthly fee (made redundant), can anyone advise what is a standard thing they may offer?
(sorry, have only read the last couple of pages of this thread, but I was getting confused!)

Just tell them you wish to cancel to go to Virgin for their half price for 6 months offer. After that you have to blag it depending on what they say.
Likely if you don't have HD they might offer you a box anyway!0 -

Glad I had the guts to ring. I've got the sports, not the full package. I just said I was thinking of going to virgin as they have sent me something through the post with an offer of 6 months half price, said I'd rather stay with sky. She said "you've been with us quite a long time", even though it's only been 2 years. It makes me feel bad for the ones not offered anything, you should try ringing again.
I've also got ESPN, and I'm not quite sure if i'll get that half price or not, not going to complain if it's not anyway.

Thank you everybody for the advice.
Phoned up SKY (Mon AM) & said I was cancelling & giving Virgin a try. (Virgin IS available in my area).
Very friendly guy offered me 1/2 price for 6 months.
I'm on Sports + Mixes @ £44 (old VAT price) - so down to £22 a month - so really happy.
