Taa afaik theyve called quite a few times, theyre already on the XL package for everything, plus all of the added channels (sky sports etc), and paying advertised price for it (no reductions).....I have started wondering if they are getting ignored as they already have the 'top' package.....

Well i rang back approx 1 hour later, and said me and my husband had spoke and we wanted to def cancel and go with Virgin.

Then we get given free HD box with free instalation and 6 months free HD after £10.25 per month.

    How groovy is that !!

So if at first you get no where ring up after :-)

  • Ok, so i currently pay only £22.50 for a middle tier Sky tv pack (standard non-HD digital box). Don't have their phone or BB as its with virgin.

Rang Sky to cancel, and the only offer i got was a free HD box. I told him that virgin do a free HD box anyway and are 1/2 for 6 months on subscription. He said he couldn't do anything about the subscription, and that he couldn't do anything more for me. This really annoyed me as i've been with them for 11 years. Anyway, told him to put go ahead and cancel and he gave me 31 days etc.

So i rang back 15 mins later and spoke to a lady, explaining that im not happy. she asked what i wanted, and i said... Free HD+ box, free installation and 1/2 subscription for 6 months, and she processed that without any problem.

..why couldn't the first chap do the same?!

Anyway, its Saturday and the engineers coming out on Monday! Talk about swift!

Best thing to do if you cant get the deal you want is to call back... dont even wait a few days.. call straight back like i did.. well atleast it worked for me.

Just to confirm, i genuinely was going to cancel and go to virgin, its only this last deal that kept me.

After negioting a HD box and half price TV for myself, I called up impersonating my dad for his account who spends £51 per month on multiroom and sky sports in his house - was offered a HD box with free install however my dad doesnt have a HD telly and i didnt want him having to deal with an engineer due to him being in his 70s and being quite deaf etc etc. So i was then offered half price on the TV which halfed it from 40 quid to £20, also moved the line rental from BT (£13.50ish) to Sky(£11.25). Saving him around £120 over 6 months plus £12 line rental in total.

Only had to talk for 10 mins or so and spout the usual about cancelling and having "an old sky box".:T

Just called up & got my £44 package reduced to £22 for 6 months - then adding movies so actually paying £26 but got movies.

    No threatening required.
  • I phoned Sky to let them know that i wished to cancel and that the service I was rec wasn't worth anywhere near £49 a month and was immediately offered a 50% discount for the next 12 months!!

All I can say is ring them ring them ring them :)
