    Hi,

Just called Sky and explained that i wanted to save money so would reluctantly need to move to BT Vision or Freeview and was offered 50% off for six months. I have Skyworld at £52 per month so saving will be £156.

Thanks very much to everyone for posting; i wouldn't have rung if i hadn't seen this thread.

    Best wishes,

    Tracey
  • I must be crap at this, went through to cancelations, told them I was looking to cut costs and my box keeps freezing (sky+) I was told my account would be cancelled etc etc in so many days. So now what do I do wait and see, what happen next?
  • Went through to the down grade section and they offered me nothing. Then went through to cancellations. Told them i was fed up with other people getting all the offers and i wanted to cancel when my contact was up in May as i took multi room out in May last year. They offered me 6 months half price on the sky world package. Great result for me and thanks to the poster.

Oh give it a REST! We got the message, so just trip trap over your bridge again now.

It's ironic that you are the highest poster in this thread by a considerable margin really!
  • I did this yesterday. Pretty much just asked them if there was anything they could do by way of a discount as I was thinking of moving to Virgin to save money. Wasn't confrontational about it or giving ultimatums or anything. The fellow was quite nice about it and reduced our £46 a month by £17.50 for 6 months. He said that Sky have a bit of policy about this right now for customers since it's just after Christmas and people might not have the cash about so they go out of their way to stop people cancelling.

I called today. There's no need to threaten at all. All I simply said was that I'd like to know if there are any special offers for existing customers since Virgin Media are offering a six month-half price package and that I'm thinking of leaving. He was a very nice guy, checked my account and said that I'm eligible for either a 25% off for 12 months offer or a 50% off for 6 months offer. I took the 50% off one, but one thing you have to be conscious of - The offer applies to the package you subscribe to. An example is that if you subscribe just to the variety pack for £19.50 per month and have 2 multiroom subscriptions for £10 per month per box. You'd be paying £39.50 per month. The offer applies only to the basic subscription and not to any multiroom or HD+ subscriptions.

So if you took the 50% deal, you'd halve the £19.50, then add the multiroom to get an idea of what you'll be paying (In this case, it would become £29.75). In effect, you'd still save around £60 over 6 months. My subscription is way higher so every penny makes a difference, but I thought I'd give an explanation of how it works. Also, if you only have one box and paying one subscription charge (Like the person 8 posts up about paying £52 for SkyWorld), the offer would give you massive savings.

Yes there is...... I did the same and when he checked my account l didn't have any 'special offers'. So l'm leaving it until later this week and l'll threaten to cancel if l haven't got any 'offers' again.

The message throughout this thread has been if you get nowhere tell them you're leaving, apart from one or two they've offered something.

    Happy moneysaving all.

Hi, sorry for joining this thread so late but has anyone mentioned a similar success with calling Virgin? My parents are with Virgin and they never have any luck with the 'cancellation' threat. They asked for an upgrate for the box and Virgin said they would need to pay over £100 plus installation (even though their current box is easily more than 8-9 years old and the remote appears to have an intermittent fault).

    So-has anyone tried with them?

    TIA

ps my dad wont have Sky installed as he wont have the dish on/around the house........so thats not an option
