Spoke to Cancellations requesting cancellation and as a Sky customer for 11 years, I was offered a free Sky+ HD box along with a £5 charge for the first six months, £10 thereafter, with free installation. The advisor explained that they couldn't couple the offer with a discount on the TV package (we have the Entertainment package at £24 pm), as they only covered hardware offers. Bearing in mind the length of time we've been with Sky, does this sound like a good deal or should I push harder when I call back? I also have Sky Talk Unlimited and broadband yet line rental with BT.
Has anyone else been offered a free Sky+HD box coupled with a discount on the TV package? We are getting a HD TV in the next few weeks but a discount on the TV package would be an additional incentive to stay.
Hi! i have been with sky 18 years, and all they offered me in the end was a new HD box and free install max after much haggling, i said if i added the HD pack, plus ESPN and the Sky World Pack would they discount my package after the install, and all they offered me was a £27 pound discount for one year lol, plus i allready have a £40 package with them, and all i requested was the £10 HD sub free for one year as a incentive and a good will gesture.
I even said i can go to Virgin for much less, and they more or less said cancel then, very stingy of them i believe, for such a loyal customer with no previous discounts. I only rang because i was thinking of getting a new HD TV, they are cutting their own throats really, because my total extra sub for the year would have been around £20 extra each mth, so a total of £240 in their pockets after knocking of the £10 each mth discount, i rang 3 times in total as well, but still they seemed unable to comprehend my plight.
I think they sould give some of their advisors maths lessons as part of their training also, not saying they are all like this, as well some of their logic did not match comparisions to Virgins service either.0 -
Just checked Virgin, I don't have it in my area so I don't have leg to stand on! Still not happy!!!0

I have had the sky 6 package for years. I still have the old style box and would love sky plus but don't see why I should have to pay when new customers get it for free. A discount would also be great if at all possible :-). Does anyone have any tips (most things I've read here seem to be for people who have the phone and broadband with them - I have talktalk, or hd - my tv is an old hand me down)? I was thinking of saying I needed to cut back so wanted to cancel to buy a freeview recorder??
Hi Donna , I have the old style box , and they couldnt wait to push me to have a new box. Its in their interest really , as they try and tie you into a contract, plus tempt you to have HD, and if theres a fault they can fix it easier than an old box.
By the way - how long have Sky been giving out these Sky + boxes for free (inc installation ) ?0 -

What do you reckon? They're calling me back tomorrow, I spoke to a very nice Scottish lady.
All the 3 i talked were Scottish also! lol! but it didn't seem to help me.:(0 -

If I were you I would try another advisor before giving up, others in thsi thread said they spoke to more helpful people on their 2nd or 3rd go! If you tell them you can't afford it all anymore and are thinking of going free-view they would probably offer something to keep you:)0 -

Try mentioning the BT Vision deals instead. BT actually have a good deal at the moment particularly if you have or want sports.0 -

To be honest they aren't offering me a deal on price, and it actually turned out I had been over-paying on my broadband since June!
They only offered to change my old Sky box for a Sky Plus, and I think I'll accept that when they call back tomorrow as I was a bit jealous that new customers were being given them for joining last summer - I'll ask if it can be a HD box but I'm a terrible haggler so I highly doubt it will be:D0 -

It's for the hd+ stuff so I suppose its because the subscription will be much higher! As I don't have a hd tv (or am ever likely to pay for it if I got one) the basic one would be fine for me.0 -
I called them earlier because my sky+ box has been playing up(which I managed to get free when they first come out), and at first was ofered an engineer call for £65 which I told them I could not afford so the lady said I will put you through to cancellations and see what they can offer. The man offered me a Sky+box for £29 which I refused and told him that was mad seeing as I could get a Hd box and pay £15 for the pleasure of plugging it in myself. In the end I am getting a free HD box, free installation and Hd for half price for 6 months. i shall leave it a month and then try getting my package for half price.0
