What deals have people got for being a new sky customer?0

I've had numerous problems with my Sky+ box recently, when it has had to be re-set twice. Spoke to Cancellations requesting cancellation and as a Sky customer for 11 years, I was offered a free Sky+ HD box along with a £5 charge for the first six months, £10 thereafter, with free installation. The advisor explained that they couldn't couple the offer with a discount on the TV package (we have the Entertainment package at £24 pm), as they only covered hardware offers. Bearing in mind the length of time we've been with Sky, does this sound like a good deal or should I push harder when I call back? I also have Sky Talk Unlimited and broadband yet line rental with BT.
Has anyone else been offered a free Sky+HD box coupled with a discount on the TV package? We are getting a HD TV in the next few weeks but a discount on the TV package would be an additional incentive to stay.0 -
Currently on normal sky. been with them 4 years. Called sky went through cancellations, first offer was for 12 month contract, total £44 for new sky HD box, declined that. second offer was 12 month contract with free HD box. took that one. no sky HD subscription taken. would be great if they had thrown in some discount on viewing package but they were adamant that these offers cant be combined togather. so decided to take a new box.0

I have had the sky 6 package for years. I still have the old style box and would love sky plus but don't see why I should have to pay when new customers get it for free. A discount would also be great if at all possible :-). Does anyone have any tips (most things I've read here seem to be for people who have the phone and broadband with them - I have talktalk, or hd - my tv is an old hand me down)? I was thinking of saying I needed to cut back so wanted to cancel to buy a freeview recorder??0

I just spoke to Sky - they will take my monthly bill down from £56.75 a month to £38.35 (no offers, just altering my options but also tying me in to an 18 month contract) but they will give a free Sky+ box and free installation - I only have an old Sky box and I quite fancy Sky Plus! What do you reckon? They're calling me back tomorrow, I spoke to a very nice Scottish lady.0

Would just like to say that Sky are robbers!!
I phoned them because I was on free line rental and that has now ran out and wanted to discuss my options. Was told no offers on my account. Also stated to them that the broadband I have through them is the dearest on the Market and she wasn't interested in that either. I have full package, HD package, multi room, phone & broadband through them and it looks like I'm the mug that is paying them a fortune every month when new customers get it for next to nothing!!
Time to cancel I think! Not happy!!!:mad:0 -

Did you get a quote from Virgin first? It's very easy to do through their site, it was the price for their equivalent package that made them offer me the Sky Plus box. It could be worth calling back again in the morning and speaking to soemone else.0
