If anybody who has been given the half price for 6 months AND has an old sky box - please post .

I have the old sky+ box (no HD) and was given the 50% off for 6 months deal.

after being told last night that they wouldnt give me any discount on anything. I rang back this afternoon ready to cancel. I told the lady I am going with virgin who are offering half price for 6 months & she didnt quibble just said we will match their offer no problem, i am now getting full package for £28 for the next 6 months but she said she couldnt discount the hd so i still have to pay £10 for that. I am well pleased. I did say to her that i had rung last night and was told no way, that is why i was going to virgin & she said she was very shocked I hadnt been offered it last night as they have been told to match the virgin price with anyone wishing to leave
  • Just rung up to cancel i have had full sports, movies hd multirooms and he asked if there was anything he could do to stop me leaving i said what could he offer he said they was no offers so i said ok cancel it all, he didnt even try keep me and said ok cancelled will be off on 13th of feb.. back to freeview it is lol

Good point about haggling for no , or 6 month contract - tho I guess they will say its free box but must have 12 months.

Im also concerned they will mess up the Sky signal we currently have running upstairs - that the nice Sky man did a few years ago.
Is it just a case of swapping out the box when they install Sky + ?
Re: sky + receiver box, they have to install an extra cable (i.e. so you have 2 cables-one for recording a channel when you are watching another one) from the dish as well as give you a new box and remote. I was told it shouldn't effect the sky I have on another tv upstairs ( which has cable running from the box, as they just plug this back in to the new box).
  • Just phoned to cancel and was offered 50% for 6 months and i'm already on a basic package so will now only pay £10.75 till july. :-D

Ive just had my new sky hd box fitted, impressed doesnt even begin to cover it ! The improvements they've made since the sky+ box are brilliant, so much easier to use.

Well worth the effort, really glad I made the call :)

hello! my 1st post here, I rang Sky earlier and they reduced my monthly bill from £63.00 per month to £ 36.50 for 6 months, and told me to phone back in 6 months to see if they have any more deals! thanks OP I wouldn't have done it without seeing this thread!
