Read this from an employee of Sky. Suggests people need to phone later in the week so hold your horses.

The week goes from Friday to Thursday, this is important because each advisor only gets a set number of "deals" to offer customers each week. No-one wants to "give them away" on the first day and no-one has any left by Thursday, so the best days to call are Tuesday and Wednesday. Weekend staff and evening staff have their own small allocation of deals.
These deals can ONLY be used when the customer states they wish to cancel. You would be penalised if you gave a deal without the customers stating clearly that they want to cancel, so it's very important you do this.

Just got full package for half price at £26 a month for 6 months with no extra contract!!

I thought I would try my luck again so I called back.

I now have free hd box and installation with 6 months half price and I got multiroom too. (They wouldnt discount this)

They talked me into going for their broadband and phone which is £5 cheaper than I am paying now! Also got first 3 months of broadband for free!

    Thanks again

i called sky yesterday in the hope of getting some money off my mothly charge (i was on the full package), to my surprise they didnt even bother giving me a deal, so in protest i carried out my threat to cancel my subscription, they gave me a 30 day notice period, do you think they will call back in the hope i may reconcider? which i will if i get a decent deal? or should i start planning on going to virgin?

This is exactly what happened to my husband!

Too many of you are phoning. Be patient!
  • As I said yesterday too many people ringing will stop the offers . I am going to give it a few days before I try. Had the same problem when everyone wanted a HD box.Was told no way, left it three days tried again and got one no probs. So donnt give up.

I watch a lot of the American Shows; True Blood, V:The New series, Nikita, Dexter, Lie to Me, Nip/Tuck(Now finished), Desperate Housewives, Glee and many more.

Ah, right. Are they on Sky 1?
My mum has freeview through her TV and cannot see E4, Fiver or the +1 channels that SKY TV offers.

FYI for your mum, these are all available through Freeview - she prob just needs to do an automatic retune of her freeview TV or box. :)

Phone back and speak to another advisor. Each person is different.

Hey, jarr - you know there's a multi-quote function, right?! Saves you posting several times in a row. :)

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

The type of deal available varies, but typically you could expect 1/2 price sky packages for 3months, free Disney channels and sky movies at the cost of the basic pack. You're not usually able to put a customer onto a second deal when they reached they've reached the end of the first deal.

Hubby phoned earlier in the day and they gave him half price on TV package (we also have broadband and phone through them anyway). Total for all inc. line rental - £31 a month now. Excellent. Thanks!
  • Can I confirm that if they offer you this kind of deal, they do in fact tie you into another contract? As I mentioned previously, I should be moving house in about 7 or 8 weeks, so cannot get caught up in a contract.
