But did you have to sign up for 12 months for an extra £10 a month?

    No, I didn't have to pay £10 a month but I do have a 12 month contract, which I don't mind.

If people (like me) live in a Virgin Media area why dont they do what I do and one year with Sky at half price then Virgin Media at half price and so on and so on....

I've been checking for the last 6 years to see if my area has Virgin, and it doesn't. I don't know if there is a number or email address on which to ask them to provide it in a particular area or not?

Telephone Sky Sunday as only 1 month left on my 6 months half price deal.

They said no offers available until my present deal ends, so I cancelled.

Informed the Family so we'll see what happens, at present I'm looking at £50 extra in my pocket from October

Please do let us know if they come crawling back with an offer...

I too have just started 6 months half price and they said to ring back after 5 of those months to get it extended.

I'm a bit like you though, if I ring back in 5 months and they say the same to me then i'll cancel because there is no way on this earth i'll risk paying £50 a month for crappy TV... £25 a month is just about acceptable...

Thanks again for letting us know and hope they come back with something soon :)

I will happily do this if you can show me a similar Virgin deal to what I currently have for similar money.

I currently pay about £24 a month for:

    Variety Pack
    Knowledge Pack
    Music Pack
(I believe I will now have moved to "Entertainment Extra" from these packs)

All of the sports (except HD)

All of the movies (except HD)

My broadband and telephone is with other companies in contract so I cannot move these.

I wouldn't bother about losing most of the channels I have so if you can get close to that, we may have a deal.

    EDIT:

Just tried to price a TV package up with Virgin and there were two options (prices guessed) "£3 a month with a Virgin telephone line or £12.99 without a virgin phone line"

I clicked the button for "without a phone line" and it still added the phone line to the basket... !!!!!!.

Even if I did move my phone (currently £8 a month with Primus) and internet (£8 odd a month with O2) over to Virgin... I currently pay £40 a month for tv, internet and phone. Similar with Virgin is £58.40 a month for 6 months (so nearly £20 a month more) and then £68.40 a month after that (£30 a momth more expensive). To make it even worse, Virgin now only do 18 month contracts as far as I can see.... it just gets worse and worse. I thought Sky were bad, but looking at that i'll never go back to Virgin.

if you ring back after 5 months then they say they can not offer you a deal while there is one active on your acount. Just wait until the 6 months is up then ring again for the next deal. no need to cancel.

They said I had had 3 deals so they could not do any more but another phone call a week later got me another 6 month deal.
  • Just phoned and got 25% of my bill for a year. Not bad I suppose but was looking a little more. The guy I was speaking to wasn't budging anymore.
  • Hi Birchy50 - did you get this via cancellations or did they have this as an offer on your account...need to ring again shortly myself as half-price offer I had is now up...
