  • I called at the weekend to discuss ways of cutting back our package. I started by cancelling our multi-room (no longer needed). The operator suggested cutting both our sport & HD, neither of which we were willing to give up. I was then given two options - 50% off our package for six months or 25% off for one year.

I went enquired about moving our calls and broadband to them - this came in cheaper than what we pay at the moment and we were also given 50% off of this for six months.

    Very happy!
  • Telephoned Sky to cancel as we came off a '25% off Movies & Sports for 3 months', a month ago, and the cancellation was accepted! We were offered half price telephone line rental for 6 months, saving £6.25 a month, but nothing offered for the TV, so we declined. Switch Off is 22nd Sept! Hey Ho!

Just to let everyone know what I've done

I originally had Sky World + HD (Basically the works!) half price for 12 months using a friends and family code I believe that was posted on HUKD. After those 12 months I telephone to "cancel" and was offered a further 6 months half price Sky World but losing the HD which I accepted. My six months was due to expire this week and so 30 days ago I called to cancel again citing too much money but was offered nothing and was told I'd be cut off in 30 days. Decided to play chicken and low and behold I was called by Sky a few days prior to everything due to get cut off and was offered a further 12 months half price Sky World! Tried to get HD put back on but they weren't having it but still a good deal in my book :T

I think part of them being able to offer various deals and things depends on what you mention as reasons for cancelling etc. The best deals appear to be offered when you say you are considering FreeSat because they know in reality they are priced about the same as virgin if not a bit cheaper so they believe you are unlikely to switch to an 18 month virgin contract

My contract only has a week or so left on it, haven't heard anything else from them so will be sorting out virgin in the next few days.

Well done to everyone who got decent offers from them.

  • Rang them yesterday and was offered a further 6 months half price. If I agreed to broadband and line rental was offered 12 months line rental free. Am thinking very seriously about this one so much cheaper than BT,

Was this your first half price offer or had you had one before? and were still in the half price period?

  • even when i threatened to cancel.

The way you wrote that above makes me think that you didn't threaten to cancel until the end of the call / until you had asked them for a discount....

If thats the case then you possibly did it wrong, you just need to ring up and ask to cancel your sky not ask for a discount etc....

Maybe its just the way you wrote it though.
