Sky offer to me (existing Customer)

  • Our half price sky expired yesterday and i had already had it for six months and then got another, so i'd already had twelve months in all at half price. I have taken up their broadband and talk package in the last month and upgraded to the hd box (not the hd pack) in the last month so i doubted i was going to get anything at all. I phoned through to cancellations and told them that my six months had just expired and i was told to ring back when this happened to see if there were any more offers on my account. She told me that i couldnt cancel because as i had upgraded my box i was tied into another twelve months (which i already knew) but she said that she could still offer me 25% off my tv package for the next twelve months!! Was very happy with that - and she knocked £5 a month off my broadband as i was not in the area for broadband unlimited. So i have saved £18 a month overall - very happy with that :)

What are people saying who are currently under contract in order to get the half-price deal? Since you can't threaten to cancel, I'm curious what works.

Sorry forgot to say in my earlier post - to get any kind of discount you obviously need to be out of your minimum contract term...

You won't get anything off if you have had it less than 12 months or are still in a 12 month contract.

Thats why the people getting 6 months half price need to be careful if they get offered deals on the HD package because these normally have to be for 12 months... so ringing back after the 6 months half price, you'll still have 6 months on your contract so won't get more discounts at that time.

    hi lifes grand plan

I hope you dont think I'm being cheeky but how much do you pay for your tv package, I would like sky tv , we all have mobiles so no need for phone line , (bb is with virgin at £21 per month) at the moment, everytime I see one of there adverts (sky )its for all three tv bb,phone line so have never rang because dont need phone line. any advice would be great. hope this makes sense

    regards carol

Not cheeky at all Carol, happy to help if I can....

I have 2 mixes, sports 1 - 4 (not ESPN though) and all movie channels - no HD though.

All of that costs me £24.50 a month.

They are changing the "mixes" thing soon so not sure how that will affect me, might add £1 maybe....

For those who don't get an offer, I cancelled my Sky just over a year ago, within 2 months (think it was nearer 1 month) they sent me a mail shot offering me half price on whatever sky TV I wanted...

So if you are willing to risk it and can live without it for a month or two then you *should* be able to get the deal.

    Same here.

They also sent me a survey to comment on the CS rep. I wonder what I should say...

Just been told they can't even consider doing a deal for me until my current half price for 6 months has run out in September. They did say they MIGHT be able to help then (as I have been with them for around 15 years and never had a 'deal' until this year) but it still means I will hav e to find the full £60 odd in September and then try my luck again.

There is no consistency with their offers.
