  • My 6 months half price finished in june so I phoned to see what they have on offer at the moment I have the full tv package which is £52 but my sky+ box hasnt been great and thought I would chance a new box. the girl said she could offer me 25% off for 6 months which I said wasnt to bad but explained my box wasnt great and that I had heard of the more up to date box the hd one ( I acted dumb) and she said she would have a look so she offered me a free sky+ HD box with free installiation and the HD package for 12 months for £2 something per month on top of the 25% off my subscription so I am well chuffed as I will now pay round about £40 a month which saves me £12 plus I have the new box and HD package. Hope this helps someone xx

HD boxes have ghastly power consumption. Think they are constantly at 50W 24/7.

My hubby phoned up this evening and played the "I am really gutted but at present I simply cannot afford to continue with my sky tv" card and it worked...in a remarkably short space of time too. In fact my hubby says it was probably the fasted haggle he has ever had with Sky!

We have Sky TV - all basic ones with both Sport 1 & 2, broadband and phone.

The chap has given us half price for 6 months.

......off to see about the HD box with cashback now! :)

css there are 2 Packs. 1 Entertainment and Style & Culture and the 2nd is Entertainment plus which has all 6 packs, but not movies or sport or HD as these are seperate charges. Come Sept 1st Sky will automatically move you on to one of the 2 packs Ents or Ents plus) based on your subscription now. The link I posted is a good guide, as if you currently have either/only the variety pack or style and culture (home makeovers, food) then you will be put onto the Entertainment & Style & Culture pack. But if your current pack includes any of the other 4 packs (music, kids, knowledge, news) then you will be put onto the Entertainment plus and have all 6 channels. To get this at the lower price you must ring sky and cancel all but one channel before Sept 1st 2011 and if you want to still have all 6 channels, then make your single channel one of the last 4 I mentioned. You will then pay £19.50 instead of £24.50 until August 31st next year, on top of any charges for movies, sport and hd. Changes made after sept this year Sky told me, will incur the new charge after the price freeze, £20 for Ents and £25 for Ents Plus.

If you are on a half price for 12 months deal that is not due to finish until November time, could you still do this or will it affect the discount? As you have to give one month's notice to change package, would it still work? Would you be tied in for another year?

Would be good to cut the price even more for the next few months and will then try for the half price for another six months (would probably lose multi room and HD as couldn't justify paying full price for them). Or has anyone heard of getting a repeat deal on free HD and half price multiroom, plus half price, after coming off a friends and family deal?

    Many thanks

Some great service I received this morning - I phoned to give my 31 days notice (I really do want to leave as my local cable company (not Virgin) have some great deals just now).

Guy said (after much giving of the speil) fine, account will be cancelled on 8th September.

Went to switch a recording on for the kids and, no channels! No sky+!

I at least expected to have access to the channels and recording facility for the 31 day notice period?

One email sent off to Jeremy Darroch's office... not happy, certainly would think twice about going back to Sky after that nonsense.

Hello moneysavers, bit of advice required?i was coming up to the end of my 6months half price offer and phoned to see if i could be offered anything similar again.the guy on the phone said the best he could do was 25% off for 12months or if i want,i could cancel.he said the 25% off will only be offered today and if i decided to cancel, then this offer would no longer be available as sky want to stop customers cancelling then changing their mind...i did go ahead and give my 30days notice..!i've heard from numerous people that sky will phone and offer me a very good deal a week before i'm due to finish my contract..how true is this?should i phone again and see if thry can do something for me?..what are the chances?

I cancelled a few months ago after my last half price for a year ended, as we hardly watch telly and certainly wasn't worth paying full price for. We were offered a free Sky+ box and 25% off for six months at the time, but I said no I still wanted to cancel as the only deal I would be interested in was half price. The guy finally went ahead and cancelled it after a very hard sell on the free Sky+ box and 25% off. Didn't hear anything again, but then a couple of months later had a card through the post offering another half price for a year, and £100 cashback if we took one of the movie packages (£4 a month at half price). Which I jumped at, as only having cbeebies for the kids was driving me mad lol.
