    Why are SKY so inconsistent:mad:

I rang earlier this month as my 6 months at half price was due to end soon and was told to ring back after the exact date, when I would be in my 31 day period of it actually ending. I rang back and asked to cancel. She asked if it was purely financial or if I was intending to go elsewhere. I said financial but that Virgin are in our area offering half price. This seemed to get her back up and as a result then mine so we are now in the notice period, all cancelled.

She then tried to get me to cut down my package, which I have done in the past and all we have one or all of us here watch so I told her it was all or nothing basically as not fair on one to keep something and cancel something else etc......

She stated that as I have now cancelled then the remainder of my 6 months offer is withdrawn !!!!! and that we will lose all recordings on my Sky+ straight away, not at the end of my 31 cancellation period.

Why do all the SKY staff tell us customer something different when we all just want the same thing?

So after being 10+ years customers of SKY it looks like Virgin will shortly have new customers.

    Aaarrrgggghhhhh:mad:

Telephoned this morning but they said no offers and tried to sell me broadband etc ,i will have to try again in few days time.

I've rang twice and had this but no offers. How many times can you call before they offer anything? At this rate going to have to cancel and chance getting a deal in post.

Cancelled my Sky in May, so phoned up to see if there was any offers available (as they offered me a £120 credit in January to make me stay which I accepted but they never honoured it) they guy asked his supervisor and told me that no offers were available unless I re-activate my account by subscribing to a pack or premuim channel and they they cant promise anything wil be available even then, what a load of nonsense, told him I was going with Virgin and he said okay.

Think I will get top-up-tv on a monthly basis for just sky sports and wait to see if they send me a come back at half price offer anytime soon.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I phoned Sky this morning re upgrade, as our sky+ box has been making a horrendous noise for past week. Told I could get Sky HD box free plus £10.25pm. Told them I did not want to pay as I am already paying £52pm for TV package, have been with Sky over 15 years. She recalculated and came back with £214 for box without subscription!!!!!! Can anyone tell me if I buy a HD recorder from John Lewis etc., will it connect and record to Sky???

No, to use the Sky features you will need a Sky box. The boxes are only £199 to buy online so not sure where she got that price from.

You can buy a recorder and potentially record Sky channels but this will still rely on you having a working Sky box.

I managed to get a Sky HD box for just £60 installation, with no ongoing subscription, so it is possible to do.

You can pick up the boxes cheaper than that online.

  • I have been trying to do the same thing for the last few days now, and was originally quoted £289 for a new HD Sky+ box, after initially being offered it free with 12 months HD subscription, even though I explained that I had no interest in subscribing to HD. After being asked to be transferred to Terminations I was offered the same kit for about £45, after explaining that I could not afford to pay the ridiculous amount originally offered, and really in truth, no fee at all. Having slept on it I phoned today to be advised that if I want to buy the £45 HD box I would have to pay up front as opposed to sticking it on the following month's bill which has always been the means in the past. Am now considering a complaint to Sky, but experience tells me that it will be a waste of time as their complaints department are dire at getting things done.

Just keep ringing, or is it likely that they're not going to move on this?

I cancelled my half price on the 11th July as it ran out and they offered me half price again but i said no way. I called a couple of times on freephone number but no joy.

They phoned me tonight and offered £50 credit to account and another half price 6 months. Happy with that
