My 6 mths half price has come to an end. I have just phoned up and there is nothing new. I have said I would cancel, but even then I was told there were no offers. So in 30 days it is all switched off.

Are they likely to offer me anything in the meantime? or do I have to switch off? I have been a customer for 8 years and the 6mth half price was the only offer I have ever got.

Can I change my mind within the 30 days do you know?

Or should I go for the freesat card?

You can definitely change your mind in the notice period with no penalty.

You wouldn't need a freesat card as you can use your existing Sky card & decoder for the free channels.

My 6 months half price came to an end on Friday. I called SKY on Friday night to ask what they could do if I renewed for another 6 months. Was told there were no deals. I asked to be put through to cancellations who then gave me another 6 months deal - this time £4 cheaper per month than the last deal.

I called SKY on Saturday on behalf of my mother in law who was paying £45 a month just for SKY TV. Told there were no deals. Again asked to be put through to cancellations. They tried to get me to cut some of my tv package. I stuck to my guns & refused saying I'd rather just cancel the whole thing and go freeview which was already installed in my tv. Managed to get her a deal for £22.60 for 6 months. She was well chuffed!

I was extra nice to the sales advisers on the phone when I called both times, not sure if this helped me.

Been a Sky user since 1999. Have been following this thread and deceided to cancel. Got my 6 months at half price. Last week my sky was turned off and not a single call to try and keep me.
I still use my box as all the free channels still come through.
Thinking i may go to virgin for a year take their cheap deal and then come back to sky.
or just save my money and do something more interesting

I too have just canceled Sky, not a single offer to tempt me to stay! I won't be swayed to go back though, even if they ring me. This has made my mind up now to get a freesat recorder.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I received a call 'on behalf of sky' a few minutes ago which was from a local number. The guy said he was ringing to see what he could do for me as an existing customer as they had found many existing customers had complained they weren't offered new deals. But I'd read some things about how some people were claiming to work for sjky, but didn't so I hung up lol, but not after confirming my name and password 'for security. Should I know change my password? I rung the number back and a message said I had been called on behalf of sky. Incidentally, last time I had one of these calls, they tried to get me to sign up to more packages!

If you do phone to cancel and they say ok just say you'll think about it some more. When you phone back you'll get a different person and they'll give you an offer. A bit of advice is write down what you'd like and try to talk them into it.

What I do as well when haggling with all companies is ask the persons name and tell them you're gonna e-mail to say how helpful they are being. They tend to try a bit harder for a good deal.

I don't really know where to put this, as it's roughly on the right lines but, well, about Virgin Media. :o

I'm a bit miffed with Virgin media as they still do't have red button service on Sky Sports which is annoying as **ck on a Saturday night with Match Choice. Anyway, I've had VM for 12 months as I got a good cashback deal and as I play internet poker I have to have a good internet connection - not cheap, bloody good is my requirement!

So, I ring up to cancel VM as I was thinking of going Sky as the VM box V+HD is naff too. She did a bit of tinkering but couldn't iffer me anything decent so I cancelled.

In the meantime I called Sky and got a monster offer with line rental free for a ear, £30 cashback, Free internet etc. Unfortunately I dillydallyed and missed out on it. Next time rang it was the "new year" and the offers had finished. I rang a few times but they couldn't even get close to the Quidco offer of £145 back.

So yesterday a nice chap from VM called asking me if they could get me to stay/. Get me to stay they could! :D

FREE, yes FREE, Tivo 500gb box from V+HD box.
    10GB BB increased to 20GB.
Get to move V+HD box into additonal room with full TV to replace existing HD box.
    Full HD on every channel.
Full TV all HD, Sports, Movies.
    Phone with eve+weekends.
    12 months contract

Total including linerental and all discounts - £76. :T

I even managed to get an extra £1 off a month when I told him £75 was a round number :D

Oh, and VM are due to get red button in August if competition commission uphold their complaint.

How does that compare to everyone's deals? :money:
I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

thats a great deal for VM. I think Im currently being charged around £80 (inc VAT) for XL package, movies, sports etc. 20MB BB, Line rental, V+HD box and additional box in other room. I want to call and cancel as its a lot of money. angelsmadv, does that include your phone as well?
