thats a great deal for VM. I think Im currently being charged around £80 (inc VAT) for XL package, movies, sports etc. 20MB BB, Line rental, V+HD box and additional box in other room. I want to call and cancel as its a lot of money. angelsmadv, does that include your phone as well?
Yes that's with the phone as well. Also includes Tivo box. Sorry for tardy reply.I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

Result for me!
Basically our 6 months half price expired this month so I rang up to get a new offer as i was advised to do so when i got the offer originally.
My first call i advised them of this and that we couldnt justify paying the full wack again when we have been paying for £20 for the last 4 months. Anyway the best they could offer was 25% off for 12 months if i tied in to another contract. Not preferable to me so i said about throwing a HD box for me for free to which he said he could send a box for £15 postage but i'd have to pay the HD subscription. Not a good enough deal for me so said i'll consider my options.
Second call made earlier today said they noticed i've been offered 25% off for 12 months and that was the best they could offer and started going on about how deals must come to an end bla bla bla. I said about HD and they said they would offer me 50% off HD subscription for 6 months but that was a seperate offer. I asked if they would combine the 2 and i would sign up with them for 12 months again and she said she couldnt offer me it.... their loss. So said i'd think about it.
So looked on Virgin to see what they were offering. For our needs they offered a TiVo box with free Sky HD subscription for £3 per month, adding sky sports collection and M+ TV chans, for £38 which would be £2 cheaper than we're paying now, but with HD and subscription to those Sky Channels. Rung up to tell them this and i was offered a £50 credit on my next bill and 25% off for 6 months. Did the calculations which made it roughly 45% off for 6 months with the credit. So accepted that and then a few minutes later when she was explaining my bill said she put through 50% off by mistake!!! So i get 50% off for 6 months and £50 credit! Meaning my average bill for next 6 months will be £11 ... result!!!!
Really happy with this now and glad i've not had to go through the hassel of changing to Virgin! Advice to everyone else is be persistent, be polite, and if you're getting nowhere find a suitable package on virgin and quote that to sky, they will 9 times out of 10 try and beat it and give you a good offer!!
Good luck!October Wins: £100 photobook voucher, sippy cup and booster seat.0 -

I rang Sky after noticing that my direct debit had increased, I assumed this menat my previous deal was coming to an end. They said that they bill in advance and my current deal doesn't end until 21 July so they couldnt look at any other offers until then.
Am keeping fingers crossed I will be lucky on 21st and manage to get some kind of discount.0 -
at what point do you call for a new deal?
my 6months half price offer ends on the 22nd august. i have to call a month before that to give them notice to cancel it so so i call on the 22nd july to say i want to cancel the package and also cancel my sky and see what they say to that?:j0 -

I would say worth a try. They might just say that until the current deal is up nothing else appears but you've nothing to lose by phoning in advance
Good luck0 -
