Sky offer to me (existing Customer)

Thanks - got 12 months with 25% off on Sky World.0

Just had mine switched off (cancelled last month)
Was on the best buy 1/2 price everything and free HD. So from that had the entertainment mix and sports for the last year.
Was offered the half price everything for 6 months straight away but they wouldn't move on the HD pack, even if I didn't want it anymore.
Said to them I appreciate it's a good deal but it's still 50% more than last year. Had a whole series of calls from them just as the switch off date was looming but they kept ringing in office hours.
Just out of curiosity, did anyone get them to waive the HD fee?0 -
Sorry to hear about your job, hope you get sorted in that respect.
I really think its worth calling back, a lot of people have commented that it depends on the advisor you get regarding offers. It took me three attempts and cancelling before I got offered the 6 months half price. And to be honest, these offers should benefit people in your circumstances just a little perseverance needed, tell them your thinking of cancelling all together as Virgin are offering half price on full entertainment package for 6 months which is better value!
Go on, you can do it! :T
Thanks for your kind words. I will try again in a few weeks (when I build up the courage). The thing is, we can't have virgin in our area, so I feel like we're stuck with them. I'm worried if I say I'm going to cancel they'll just say 'OK'. I'd be lost without my TV channels! :rotfl:

If they do that, just put the phone down!
Also, on the fact that you can't get Virgin, just tell them an address that CAN get everything on Virgin. We're moving soon, so told them the new address.0 -

Same here, well near enough. I had Sky HD with Sky 1 and discovery channels etc, was paying £17.50, then it went up to £35. I called to cancel and the best they would offer is 1/2 price on the package. No deal on HD or Multi-room. So, cancelled, 1 call from them later and same offer, 1/2 price. No deal, so that's it. Been gone a week and it's no big deal to be honest.0 -
Am I right in assuming that if I cancel Sky, that the box still works as a Freeview box, but more importantly do you lose the ability to record, pause etc.? for me,this would be the biggest loss.0

We only had our 6 months 50% deal and the last wednesday.
Since then my OH has rang sky twice. 1st time they said they had no offers for us so we just left it at that. She rang up again yesterday and still they had no deals for us, but they did say there were going to be some good new deals at the end of july although no details on what they are. So were going to wait till end of july now and hopefully we can get a good deal0 -
Just had another good deal.
I've just finished my 2nd 6 month half price deal, called today and got 25% off for 6 months, plus £50 bill credit, which with my tariff works out just a couple of pounds more expensive than a half price deal. Quite happy to have gotten my 3 deal in a row.0 -

You lose the paid for channels, keep the free channels (as long as, I'm told, your viewing card is reasonably recent) and lose all the Sky+ features.
The stuff you've got recorded won't be wiped, but you won't be able to watch it. If you ever take another subscription then you'll be able to watch what you've currently got recorded.
I agree that that's the biggest loss, but for us it's not worth £20 a month.0 -
I have just finished 18months half price. Was honest and said I didn't think full price was value for money but was happy paying the half price. Sky person said they would only offer the half price for those in financial difficulties so
I told him to go ahead and cancel it. Would prefer to have it but can take it or leave it. Not paying fifty something a month for it.0
