my half price 6 months ends on the 11th, should i ring now or wait till the 11th?

I rang 30 days before my 6 months half price deal was up so to give them 30 days notice to cancel and was offered nothing, in fact the guy said their was no deals on my account to offer. I canceled then I received a letter saying sorry your leaving etc phone and ask us for offers.
I phoned and a girl said that if you are on an offer the computer system wont give you another offer until the present one finishes. She also said if you cancel it wont give another offer either. She had to cancel my cancellation then she gave me another 6 months half price.
So you have to risk paying one month at full price to gamble that they will give you it at half price.

Thats rubbish beacuse I did exactly that. I had 1/2 price for 12 months inc free HD. I told them I could not afford the jump from £17 a month (inc 2xmovies+3x packs) to circa £50.

They extended my deal by 6 months, but have to pay £10 for the HD as no longer free.

So £27 a month for Sky+HD with both movies and 3 add-on packs.

Just saying what happened to me, I am sure each person you speak to has a different angle on their 'policy'

What are Sky's cancellation terms? I'm out of contract and, fingers crossed, will be moving house in 4-5 weeks. I'm not daft enough to allow Sky to move with me as I had have a outdated old box. My intention is to cancel with Sky and for it to be re-taken in my partner's name via Quidco so we get £125 cashback plus a new HD box etc.

You have to give 30 days notice to cancel so id ring them and cancel when you have 30 days left in your house ;)

    I gave sky a ring
went through to the cancalations dept
and just said to the guy (Ken) that we didnt want to give up on our package but we cant afford the £60+ per month
he asked who our phone & bb is with and how much (virgin £45 is pm)
he said right what we can do is

sky package for £28pm for 6 months, then back to £56, free hd for 12 months, phone for £12.50 pm, free broad band unlimited for 6 months not 3 then £7.50pm. and waverd the isterlation for the new openreach line, ours is the old copper thing, which should be £39

so last month sky + virgin phone + bb £108.50 total
this month sky + phone & bb £40.50
    after 6 months sky + ph & bb £81

total savings over the year will be £471 + £39 = £510 over the yaer or £42.50 pm

    old package £100 (avg) x 12 = £1200
    new package £40.50 x 6 = £243 + £81 x 6 = £486 = £729
    after 1 year will be £66 + £12.50 + £7.50 = £86 still saving £14pm

but as with all call centers it depends on who you get some will reduce things down to keep you and some will say thank you and your deal will end in 30 days

Just rang to cancel as my 6 months half price runs out 14 July, 'Louise' didn't have anything to offer me other than to reduce my package (currently full entertainment package & sports pack). She explained that sky are changing their packages as of 1 sept where it will be £20 for 2 entertainment packs or £25 for all 6 (currently £24.50) but they will do a price freeze for current customers ie only have one entertainment pack for £19.50 and you will be upgraded but stay at same price for 12 months.
I thought about it, my cut off date will be 9 August so decided to just go with the complete cut off as its during the school hols and consider calling to get some channels back if the kids drive me mad.

I feel I've blown my chance at a great deal.

I have been with VM for 11 months. We have just cancelled as they didn't offer me anything in the way of a decent deal.

I rang sky before end of June and they offered me Sky+HD Full package at standard price, but with free unlimited BB for a year and free line rental for a year, plus £50 M+S plus £60 cashback.

I couldn't close the deal there and then as I was in work (blushes). The fella tried to ring me back later but he was due out so said he'd get a colleague to ring. That colleague never rang. I rang up last night and the fella said all those deals ended last month as it was the end of their financial year (American apparently) and they offered me nothing bar £40 cashback!

    Any new customer deals anyone?
I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.
