I've just called Sky to cancel, we'd looked at the freeview channels & decided we'd give them a go.
The Sky guy asked why we wanted to leave & I explained I didn't think we were getting value for money, he immediately offered six months half price & advised me to ask again what offers they have a that time as Sky don't want to lose 'long time' customers.

About 3 months ago we decided we could do without Sky at £23 per month and stick with the free channels.
Phoned to cancel and were offered half price for 6 months.
I declined.
After a month the Sky channels (and Sky+ features) were switched off as agreed.
They phoned the next day and repeated the half price for 6 months offer.
I declined again. I wasn't doing this to get a good deal. We wanted to cancel as we didn't want to pay for it any more.
They then offered £50 credit on our account and the half price for 6 months offer. With no tie-in.
So we've had it for free for the last 3 months. Will be phoning up to cancel in a couple of weeks - to co-incide with when the £50 credit will run out.0
