As I hate ringing Sky, I used the "contact us" option in Mysky and sent an email. In it I explained I'd been with them 10 years, did not want to leave but wanted value for money and would leave if someone else could do a better deal (I have full Sky HD, multiroom Sky +, phone & BB). They emailed me back asking me to give them a time they could call me to discuss.

They called me as agreed. I got half price Sky World for 6 months and half price line rental all with no tie in and the nice lady said to contact her just before this deal expires to see what they can do moving forward.

My advice is to save all the haggling with a random joe from Customer Services and put the ball in their court via an email.

It looks to me like they have a sufficient sized client bank to make it important to hang on to existing customers.

You have to give 30 days notice to cancel so id ring them and cancel when you have 30 days left in your house ;)

We cancelled sky towards the end of the month after our contract with free sky sports for the year ran out. (This was a welcome back offer as we cancelled the year before) We are waiting to see who crack first us or sky!! As of yet neither of us have cracked but the football season is fast approaching.......

  • Thank you soooooo much to the OP. I have just phoned SKy and have been given next month free and then the following 5 months at half what I normally pay. This will be a huge help and I would not have even phoned had it not been for the OP. :)

I wasn't brave enough to threaten to cancel but I did ring up and say I was struggling to pay for the movie pack as well and straight away the guy offered me 20% of for 6 months so I was pretty happy with that. Probably could have got more if I had been pushier but knowing my luck they probably would have just cancelled it all for me!

Spoke to CS lady who told me there was nothing they could do on my account, so I asked to be put through to cancellations absolutely lovely bloke said he'd sort it and reinstated my half price for 6 months apparently my BB is on a permanent 1/2 price deal anyway :)

Also for those moving, I've worked out I would be better telling them I am moving soon.
My full price bill last month was £70.16 (phone BB telly)
With my half price discount my bill is £48.
Over the course of a year I would save.
    12 x 48 = 576 (with discount)
    12 x 70.16 = 841.92 - £125 Quidco = 716.92
    So a saving of 140.92 :)

  • i called over a month ago to get my plain box upgraded to a sky+HD box.
saw this thread and thought, lets give it ago. spoke to one of the "sales" advisors who quoted me over £180 for a Sky+HD box and mentioned that Virgin have a the same thing for less. Got put through to cancellation and bam, the first words the guy said "i can do it for free".

So free Sky+HD box (with no HD subscription (dont have HD yet))

    thats me happy!
